Why does everyone focus on the fact that ardent lost the healing on hit component

But instead of leaving it at that it had its damage component buffed.

Ardent never really got truly nerfed...

NEW EFFECT: You also gain the unique passive attack speed and on-hit effect when shielding or healing an allied champion. REMOVED: On-hit healing. Bonus attack speed changed to 20% - 35% (based on level) from 25% at all levels. On-hit magic damage changed to 20 - 35 (based on level) from 25 at all levels.

The 10 more magic damage doesnt mean much but the attack speed makes the item an absolute bitch. The item was broken at all stages, now it's just not broken at the very early game on the adc alone (but even that is now partially made up by the fact that the support also gets the effects which does matter in early game scenarios), ok? But the item isn't really fixed...

It's still broken and everyone knows it.

What people who act like it's fine don't realize is that even if the healing per hit was removed, the item's total gold value and efficiency skyrocketed. No item should be so damn impactful on a champion's total gold efficiency contribution to a team.

Which would you rather have at any stage of the game: 10% attack speed and 10 on-hit damage or 25 health on-hit? I don't know about you but I'd take the health on-hit on literally every champion in the game in every situation except maybe Azir in team fights and tower pushes. And that's just late games comparison when the difference is the latest, in lane the health is insanely better. The shared boost is cool and does have some value, but it mostly just makes the item feel less terrible for the support using it by providing some actual selfish stats; it's realistically pretty irrelevant. Removal of healing is undeniably a nerf, and when you consider the role of providing unbeatable lane sustain a pretty massive one too.

Selfish as in the 60 AP the item gives it's owner??? Highest among support items???

Which is the exact reason why it dominates the Enchanter itemization so heavily... The remainder of it simply isn't putting up any real competition for a first purchase item item 3174 item 3107 -> Scaling items, you need other %BMR/%HSP items before either to really make good use of them. item 3222 -> Laughable item, active is a discount-cleanse on a LONGER cd than QSS which doesn't even matter considering the recent prevalence of knock-ups, only good stats are %BMR and %HSP. item 3190 -> Not a Enchanter item but if you're going to get it, you damn better have some %HSP before getting it.

Let's also not forget about the fact that item 3301 line still has the best gold generation for how little effort one has to put into it...
