Grasp of the Undying changes

6/6 PBE Update

There are ongoing changes to this mastery on PBE, however what Riot had in mind was that attacking minions shouldn't count for the timer. I completely agree, especially with this damage increase that I linked, it makes sense.

Yup, it's a good change.

Well that'd be a lovely nerf to my early game strategy as Garen...

I've been meaning to experiment with the other defense keystones to see how they work on him. Guess now's definitely the time.

Wont this just push tanks with no sustain out and ranges harassers back into top?

Tanks are exactly the prime users of this mastery. They stack the timer on minions and walk up to proc it, rinse and repeat. This could shake up a bit this tank meta top, and it's about time.

How would it mix it up when many of the top tier top laners have sustain in theor kits?

Grasp pushes them over the edge. I think the only lane I've lost with Trundle was against a Volibear that was camped by his Shaco.

I do agree that grasp is a very strong keystone but such a blanket nerf hurts those with no sustain far harder than the likes of trundle and maokai.

Also im not looking forward to the possibility of graves quinn vlad or even that she devil lulu returning to toplane to make the first 10mins of the game a nightmare

Well yeah, have you ever tried to duel someone as a straight tank like Sion? It doesn't work well since most fighters are better built to actually 1v1 than tanks, so much that tanks getting 1.5% of their health back doesn't really seem like a good trade off.

They tried something like this before on the PBE, but it was reverted. I'm not sure why they are bringing this change back.

Yeah while I agree with you, the post isn't about the numbers change. It is about the mechanical change for Grasp of the Undying that Riot has wanted to implement, and had on PBE previously, but failed to deliver. The change would be so that the timer wouldn't be able to proc off of attacking minions, rather champions only. With this increase to dmg (3% of max HP), I think that would be quite good, since tanks are already meta enough.

All this really does is hurt Sion's laning further since he has very low starting health and no sustain. Cause I'm not going to try and duel laners better built for 1v1 fights (Darius and Irelia were nightmares enough thank you) so I can actually get sustain and lose a trade despite doing the health damage.

This might just destroy this mastery and bring us back to league of thunderlords.

im a little confused i see the damage increase but i dont see the part about the minions could someone paste the text?

I don't know that they want to go with the "doesn't start when dealing with minions" thing, they tried that before and had to revert almost immediately.
