Who misses Doom Bots?

I think it was one of the most complained about and underplayed mode compared to the amount of work the devs put in to it. I remember the forums filled with how there was no rewards reason to play at the highest dificulty, short of a single icon. galio was unkillable and lux/ez could frag an entire team with their ults. The amount of effort to win was unacceptable for what was essentially a party mode, the only way to stand a chance was to split push. If you saw them near a lane you were on it was better to just teleport to different one. Speaking of teleport, they had a free teleport to dragon the moment it spawned.

The ai was also very exploitable too, they had difficulties reacting to certain skillshots making the majority of the doom bots a joke, deal damage and kite then let them reset into laning. Rinse and repeat until they can be bursted. And honestly i think the got their levels and items through time, not xp/gold.

Tldr, you guys need to take off your rose tinted glasses and see doom bots for what it was, a great idea with bad execution

I remember reading somewhere from a Red that Doom Bots was shelved because the new LoL engine and the old Doom Bots code were completely incompatible.

Doom Bots wasn't really that fun i mean once u beat all the modes which i did in a matter of hours not really anything else to do and the last doom bot mode can be beaten by just split pushing and wave clearing for the noobs that couldn't beat it, I can understand that some people who haven't played the mode yet may wanna give it a try but i highly doubt people that would've completed it and gotten the icon would really play it that much

Yeah, pretty much the best game mode, that and Mirror Mode. Cmon Riot, give the masses what we want!

I also miss doom bots, urf is garbage if you ask me.

I was actually thinking about doom bots the other day. I do miss it, although not as much as urf. See, last year I was out of the country during urf. So I havnt played it since the first year it was out.

I wasn't even playing the game when it was around but from what I've seen in videos and the like it seems awesome. If they could flesh it out a bit (loads more enemy champions with even more ridiculous abilities) I would love to see it return. Maybe they could eventually put it in that rotating queue they've been working on?

I thought it was super fun as it was my first season in LoL. Really enjoyed seeing the morgana binds, the hilarious ponies popping out along with random garens. It was really challenging at first and had random scary moments like when you tried to get dragon! really miss that lux ult too :o

Not really. Once you beat the hardest difficulty it loses any challenge. It's just about exploiting AI weaknesses to split pushing since you can't possibly engage them in a real team fight.

tbh Doom Bots stressed me out from the embarrassment of potentially actually losing to bots (I actually lost a few times, iirc.....)

They were fun until you started to notice the patterns. Even if you couldnt predict what ability they might use or how it might act (Morgana shooting out 6 lux ults?) you could easily win by exploiting programed weaknesses (splitpushing).

And once you can exploit the same exact strategy to win every game, it stopped being fun.

Doom bots was by far my favorite special game mode. Perhaps it needs a little more AI work to solve some of the loopholes people have found to make it easy, but since I didn't know about those myself until I read this thread, I found it incredibly challenging.

I minimize my time with URF because I have experienced what happens in other games when I let myself use cheats too much. It's really fun for a while ("Hey, I don't need to conserve ammo, anymore!"), but not only does it get boring quickly, after it gets boring, I find that the original game isn't as enjoyable as it used to be. Considering how many people I have heard say similar things, I suspect that this is a major reason Riot has resisted community requests to make it permanent.

The thing with DoomBots:

The Idea: 10/10 an amazing and ridiculously funny game mode!

The Implementation: meh.... still this dumb unimpressive and boring Bot-AI in combination with a small amount of opponents with repeating changes to their skills. [I'm fine with that if they plan to increase the number each time the mode comes back OR if the opponents are actually amazing! ^^] (Just like Pokken, small pool much variety! <3)

So no, I dont miss it - at least not in its original state. Ascension and Urf were alot more thrilling.

I enjoyed Doom Bots. Coming up with tactics and methods to actually fight the bots with all their super-ridiculous overpowered BS was amazingly fun. If you splitpush for days and intentionally exploit AI flaws then yes it's going to be boring. But that's just because you're making it boring. Same way people who demand URF then play nothing but Lux, Sona, and Ezreal made URF boring. If your only focus on the game is to win and you deliberately make the game boring just to make sure you win, don't complain that you're not having fun.

Also Annie bear is huge, ammuu ult is the size of ur freaking computer screen... Those were the good old days xDDDD

I think part of the reason was a portion of the BMing was replaced with "DID JUST USE PASSIVE?! and " OMG, I lagged so hard just from ulting O_o". pretty much everyone was just amazed by everything that the bots were doing to the point that complaining didn't even cross people's minds. Just enjoying the ridiculous abilities and effects.

I hope they add some new passives next time they do Doom bots. things like: passive portal wall hops Ult Ghost Ult (like the ghost ults) and now that is a bot, just imagine what he will be able to do O.O

This one was one of my favorites ever. Fewest ragers I have ever seen in any game mode.

Still wish Annie Bot would be my friend so to do an all bot team that is even scarier then doom bots.

Enjoyable? It was a total garbage. In order to win you had to splitpush like crazy. So much "fun".

I "would" miss Doom Bots, but my heart can only take so much yearning, and right now it's yearning for permanent URF mode.

Weekend modes doesn't cut it. :(

My only problem is that the bots could more or less be avoided entirely by splitpushing. Fighting them was EXTREMELY fun, but a lot of people got to the point of just wanting to win and once they found out the bots reacted poorly to strong splitpushers, it got stale fast. As an addition to the mode, perhaps they could do something like having lanes without bots reinforce towers to insane levels to promote fighting the bots themselves.

Well with standard mode hopefully coming soon I can't say I will miss doom bots, there was too much rng in gvg in my opinion.
