Nexus turrets should be the strongest, not the weakest turrets

The Cane Master··168 votes·4,966 views

Thematically it doesn't make sense that guardians of the most important thing in the game are the weakest comparing to its siblings across the map. No one tanks nexus turrets for X amount of seconds when it actually starts doing more DPS cuz of all armor pen, and people should get that pulsing warning shot when they are closing near the nexus so it makes a statement that it's something important they are fighting for. If tank meta at the start of season 5 was something that triggered this change, junglers and top laners these days tend to take early dominance champions. Nerfs to Mundo and Tahm Kench on 6.2 duh. P.S. Inhib turrets same story.

Lol, the nexus turrets in Twisted Treeline are waaay more OP than the ones at the Rift. They should be like those. Smh.

Yup, we need those twisted treeline nexus towers, its like fighting baron

I want League of Minions.

Melee Minions have 1,000 HP with 500 AD. Caster Minions have 1,000 Range with 1,000 HP and 500 AP (their Auto Attacks are on a 1:1 AP Ratio). Siege Minions have 5,000 HP with 1000 AD.

And then the Turrets. They should do 500 True Damage per Hit. All of them. On every Shot. And have 50,000 HP.

Bring it.

The Cane Master1 votes

Well minions also got buffed in S5, now they scale in health and have no armor, which means that wave clear is poorer (both ap and ad). Plus they get empowered by baron buff plus duration of the super minions spawning is 5 minutes, instead of regular 4 in S1-S4. All these called for stronger inhib and nexus turrets, but they what did they get? A nerf.

P.S. I forgot that Rapid Fire Cannon bring Energized shot to marksman nowadays, plus that if they are wearing red buff it's even more ridiculous. Moreover, MAGES NOW GET TO DESTROY TURRETS BY BUILDING PURELY AP. This has gotten out of hand really.

Whatever you do, don't agro the minions...

Honestly, that'd be a fun custom game to try... If League's custom games were on par with StarCraft 1's custom games...

That's the idea! Make Wave Clearing and such vital. If you don't find a way to take out the Wave, the Wave WILL take you out. But if you get over-aggressive and take Aggro from multiple Minions, you'll either dive to them or be an Easy Kill for your Opponent.

As a side game mode, I'd try it; sounds more balanced then what they've done to the rift these days.

The turrets aren't there to guard the Nexus from champions. They're there to repel minions. They're not meant to be the best line of defense, merely the last ones.

The Cane Master17 votes

Well at least they should be exactly the same as outer/inner turrets, as it was from the beginning of time.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

I agree with you. I really do. But it would be nice it the repelled minions. (>_>)

The turrets aren't there to guard the Nexus from champions. They're there to repel minions.

And judging by how often they fall to minions alone, I'd have to say they're pretty bad at that as well. Seriously, even a super minion can tank both turrets long enough to get one of them down to 1/3 health. That shouldn't be happening.

Well, yeah. That's the point of them being SUPER minions. They're meant to be the heavy pushers. Think of it like this.

Super minions < BoC minions =< Turrets < Regular minions

Cosnirak2 votes

If they're at your nexus they obviously have super minions, otherwise they'd be at your inhibitor or further away. Supers push the non super waves really well, ensuring you have minions there to tank the enemy's nexus turrets if you're there to kill them. But when the minions can easily tank AND kill the turrets without help and in just a couple waves something is a little off. It's also pretty sad to see how little nexus turrets do to enemy champions and how easy they die to them. Nexus turrets are little more than bonus hp on your nexus right now.

Shonjl2 votes

Truthfully, Supers should do the same damage as a Cannon Minion, but keep their health. They should obviously win against a normal wave, due to their higher damage than a normal minion and massive health. That in itself would solve towers being irrelevant.

A super minion should be able to tank for a while against a tower, but shouldn't be able to plough through it easily.

lonesome zorro1 votes

that's not logical. You're saying whoever designed that field of justice thought, hey we've got minions who can destroy the inhibtower so let's make the turret that come's after that even less powerfull??? Any gradient of a working brain should make those last turrets capable of taking on all damn sort of minions cause that should be what they're designed for (safe for a baron induced super minion). Minions on their own should never be able to take down a turret.

Those things kill super minions slower than it takes Graves to get his friggin cigar.

Shonjl2 votes

They can't even repel minions.

If you expect minions alone to kill a tower, it should take a huge amount of waves to kill them. When 1 minion wave can take about 1/5 of a tower, that is kinda dumb. God forbid its a super minion wave since a super minion can 1v1 a tower.

By all means I expect champs to be the reason they fall, I also expect if their is structures in the game, that they are very powerful things, crying out loud I can tower dive on Lux when she has one of the lowest base HP in the game....Lux.... Otherwise get rid of them. If Riot wants to pussyfoot around towers, then get rid of them and make checkpoints or something which gives you a lot of vision and some buff to make it harder to 1v1 that person.

lonesome zorro3 votes

right now they're NO line of defense, just something for the minions to run through

Paroe7 votes

Can we make it so towers in general start at 90% damage reduction ontop of their standard stats, -1% per minute after 10 minutes?

Lv16 Flaaffy7 votes

The overall turret system "damage" is as much of a joke as the upcoming Vel'Koz "rework".

Silents4296 votes

And buffing these results in longer games.

No thanks.

The Cane Master46 votes

As if we don't have enough of a snowball. If you want short games go play Heartstone.

Silents4298 votes

Wait seriously there are people convinced this will make a difference against snowballing? Wow.

Because you know, by the time they hit nexus turrets I'm sure the snowballing champions just stop snowballing right? The stronger turrets only cause them to take longer dealing with minions, it changes nothing else but slightly lengthen the game.

Opening up opportunities for snowballed champions to misplay (overdive), ending up dead and allowing defending team to repel waves, get some farm and still have a shot at having a comeback. Riot's trying to shape players' behavior to playing till the end, being an honorable opponent/helpful teammate and not afker/leaver/flamer. All the while not having much game features to allow defending team to actually win the game.

Ariel the Cruel14 votes

Riot encourages the loosing team to play to the end. . . . By slashing their chances for a comeback.

Logic?

The Cane Master9 votes

There is no logic, hence the post.

This is why I don't blame people that leave or AFK a lot of the time. I am not one of those no surrender idiots. When the game is clearly lost its lost. Hell only reason I don't leave is because I don't want to deal with the drama. Ill just afk farm since you can't get in trouble for that, no matter what people say, you are still playing the game.

Hell its not even fun for the winning side. I felt bored when I was in one of those games where by 10 minutes its like 10-0. And even then I usually just AFK farm til its over since it doesn't matter. Whatever the did from 5>6 basically ruined SR for me. All I play now is Aram til they fix it, I quit, or til Season 7 comes out.

Silents4291 votes

It doesn't open up any opportunities, you are trying to rely on the very off chance the snowballing team acts like dumbasses for the sake of a buff.

This isn't just a bad reason, this is a terrible reason. If you want the game to be easier to come back from, Nexus turrets sure as hell are not the place to start. None of the turrets are.

Ariel the Cruel7 votes

Currently, turrets are a nuisance after lvl 3 and borderline useless after lvl 6. Pen light Inhib turrets and nexus turrets are hilariously pathetic when they struggle to clear even a single minion wave.

I don't agree with relying on the other team throwing. Anything that is a buff solely for the sake of hoping they make a mistake is a pointless because you're still at the mercy of the winning team. However. Buffing turrets so that they don't have to be permanently guarded from minion waves and covered in bubble wrap [starting at 10 minutes] would give the losing team more map mobility. I'm not saying the turrets should be immune to minions, mind you; monster waves should still be a thing. Even though Riot was kind enough to ensure the losing team can't actually form a monster wave anymore without expending both banner and Zz'Rot while the winning team gets them without doing anything.

PLZ RITO, buff turrets....

PePsiLemoNN3 votes

Imo the problem is that super minions take turrets faster than champions ...

Ace Access 3 votes

they can't even kill minions fast enough, just give them an AoE with a 3%maxHP damage to go along with their lasers

AninLegions7773 votes

It's actually so funny. It takes only 1 super minion to solo the bloody turrets not to mention that all the other minions around are buffed. It's just sad.

Chespin20133 votes

Turrets are so incredibly weak its just a joke at this point. Watching LCS right now is so boring since teams can just like 3 to 4 people to destroy the 1st turrets at like the first 5 mins of the game is really dumb. The game feels like it requires less decision making and more on people getting caught out.

Shonjl3 votes

The thing I find is funny is I never once, in any game, from any Streamer/Youtuber, or even any ProPlay have I heard anyone say towers are too strong.....So it kinda makes me laugh they keep getting nerfed nonstop.

Scramrail3 votes

I agree, but think in more general terms. As it stands all turrets are pretty much worthless after the 10 minute mark in terms of providing a safe place to be from enemies. I really shouldn't have to worry about losing a 1v1 against an enemy if theyre diving me under turret at any stage of the game, never mind in the first 10-20 minutes. If someone messes up and takes a tower shot, and ESPECIALLY if they take multiple, it should provide their opponent with a massive advantage in lane if not a kill out right. As it stands, all turrets are basically just minor annoyances that people sometimes have to deal with being damaged by.

Archeanthus2 votes

I three-shot a nexus turret as Nasus with 600 stacks. Buff them please, it's really stupid.

Rendarkan2 votes

It won't matter if these new dragon buffs go thru.

http://i.imgur.com/sr3DHmm.png

And we thought Jinx could tear down a turret... push for two early dragons and turrets will be a thing of the past by 10 minutes.

FooDang2 votes

The nexus needs a 50Cal gun emplacement on top of it...maybe some siege tanks in siege mode at the fountain.

Grimmeral2 votes

I think it's just that by the time the enemy team gets to the Nexus they're buffed up enough to make it insignificant. But if the turrets were stronger you couldn't finish by 14 (that game we had 2 AFKs but they managed it).

Deus Imperator2 votes

why they dont rapid fire like the twisted treeline turrets?
