For people who go Mid/Support, how often do you get support?

Just genuinely curious and that if Riot actually improved their matchmaking algorithms.

We all know back then the primary/secondary things didn't have a priority so picking that would get you support almost all of the time.

However, recently I tried going mid/support for shits and giggles (and that I want to hopefully do some practice in normals), and actually got mid in 3 out of 5 games. How about you guys? If anything, my Q times were much longer than my usual support/mid, in which Q times were only half a minute.

when dynamic queue first came out, i was mid/support and quickly realized i got support 90% and mid only 10% (if that). i gave up support and solidified as jungle for my secondary role which i was equally good at sup/jungle (i had preferred sup, but due to the way the odds favored sup >.> i had to give it up to get mid again)

after i made jungle my secondary i got mid 60% and jungle 40%, with most of my mid games being dodged i ended up as jungle far more often than mid lane >.> because ofc, someone else wanted to play mid, didn't get it, and dodged on the spot, or perhaps someone got stuck on support.

mid/top gave me mid the most, but also the highest queue time, i was getting mid a reliable 80% of the time but those times when i actually got top i was forced into a situation where I wasn't the best and it hurt my team, so now im relegated to mid/jung now. i would support 50% of the games im in, but no more than that.

if i dont get my primary role at least 50% of the time, I'm not interested in calling anything else my secondary, its a primary.

Have you tried Q'ing up as mid/support after the changes? Curious.

yes, i still get sup more than 50% of the time.

The issue is the amount of people choosing non support roles as primary. If 100 people queued up all with mid as primary and 65 queued as support primary there is a lack of 35 support roles that would have to be filled for a game to happen therefore the will fill that role from the queue for the most picked role that has fill or support as secondary therefore if you are the last 35 that queued for mid primary will end up with a 50%ish chance to get support

Just for example. Numbers arent exact

Doesn't answer my question on anything at all.

People tend to make up claims of "not getting what they want" through generic responses, and that response is the epitome of those kinds of things.

It can be something as simple as "1 out of 10 games", because anecdotal examples are all I'm looking for.

How does that not directly respond to what you asked?

Athenes Lulu1 votes

I was asking people who q's up for mid/support and how often they get support on their own by doing that. And was hoping to use their responses to get an image if people are merely just bitching and whining, I'm "lucky", or people are right and that things aren't working as intended.

You gave me something overly generic and statistical, and almost off-topic. Of course you will still get support 60/40 or somewhere near that number, but hoping to be at least not to the point where primary/secondary has absolutely no priority, which was the case before.

Exactly if you have people queued as mid/support your chances are 60% that you will get support. The numbers prove that. So it directly answers the question. Now say i want top, jungle, adc and i know mid is the most chosen role ill select mid/ top or whatever role i really want cuz that makes it more likely to get the 2nd role and on the off chance i get mid i can ask in champ select if someone perfers mid and trade roles. Works all the time cuz i dont care to play mid so im fine with whatever role besides mid

I tried this two months ago and god mid 2 out of 10 times.

99% of th etime. no one likes to supp.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

"no one"?

i guess i dont exist kappa

khorney1 votes

hence 99% of the time. this is the whole issue with dynamic que ,peopel complain about quue times yet no one wants to supp becuase supp is boring not fun and very little impact in the game. people now dont get forced and or have to supp they get to choose not to do it. If you ask anyone they will say im not good at supp yet they feed the shyt out of top or jungle .......

Athenes Lulu1 votes

Well they gotta pick one or the other. "Guaranteed" roles, or shorter Q times. Can't have both, unfortunately.

Though I'll be honest here, but I'm having much more impact as support this season than before. Supporting isn't all about playing the hook/damage hero, and that playstyle is one of the only things most players can adapt to. Meta changed, people only can bitch and whine because that playstyle isn't the only way to climb anymore.

So what people have been complaining baffles me, if anything.

I go top and fill or mid and fill.

Now i am a support main this season.

When I queu as mid/support I am actually surprised when I get mid.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

Before the changes I was even more surprised when I get mid despite putting it secondary, because there wasn't a preference in primary/secondary. Heck, I DID get mid when going support/mid.

After that change, I stopped getting mid. And for the better, too, though that's just me. In fact, many support mains want to play only support.

I usually only play with my friends, and we just jokingly refer to me as a support main now, even though I by far prefer mid lane. I don't play too much, but before the changes I barely even got mid lane at all. When the new champ select was introduced, I got it pretty much every other game, but as people realized that putting in support pretty much guaranteed getting it, it declined. I have gotten level five mastery on Braum and Naut, as well as level four on Thresh roughly in the same time it took me to get level four on Orianna, counting the games where I was guaranteed mid. After the changes I've seen more mid, though. It still seems I mostly get support, but right before they changed, I almost didn't get mid at all.

Btw, I always queue mid/support.
