@Riot; Item Diversity

I was wondering why item 3140 only builds into 1 item. Specifically item 3140 +item 1037 +item 1053 =item 3139 . Like even bami's cinder has a second item variant (Cinderhulk Enchantment). Yet QSS only builds into 1 AD specific item. The game has become so heavily soaked with cc and yet the best mages have are summoner 1 item 3102 or take Morgana or be Malzahar . While Ad champs have summoner 1 item 3139 item 3814 and can have a morg on the team or be Sivir . Yes Banshees can be great but at the same time unlike Edge of night where you pick when you want to set your spellshield up Banshees is ALWAYS UP until used up and then you have to wait for it to come back up, so any little spell can pop it like edge of night, but for edge of night you decide when to use it so you optimize its efficiency.

This makes mages at an even larger disadvantage because their cc protection can be burned through whenever accidentally and then they have no way to cleanse it.

The main thing im trying to say is if theres a base item, item 3140 for example why does it not have more than one build choice, this goes for any item I haven't considered, but following New Morde's release this came up recently and really bothers me. Like even item 3140 +item 3108 (or)item 1058 into an item with a cleanse effect would be an amazing addition. But if not please explain why this kind of thing is avoided thank you.

Because mages having the option to both zonyas and QSS is not a good route. At least as of now, they lose offensive stats going qss.

yeah but i mean theres so much cc that often mages cant even zhonyas because stunlocked or knocked up or yatta yatta, i wouldnt mind the tankier version of of qss added instead of an ap item, but just 1 item for a base item is idk weird i guess ya know?

It is too much, mages have enough items and do not need a cleanse. Also, an item that people often forget about is item 3222 which is a 2100 gold support item that pretty much does the same thing as the Scimitar active. Also, Banshee's Veil went from being a tank item, to exclusively a mage item. Before the change, you would sometimes see carries building BV as a last item, but now you cannot do that as an AD champ.

as a support main i barely ever buy that item, let alone see other people buy that item, like usually your the one dying and that doesn't help you not die, compared to item 3174 at least, like i feel like there is a severe imbalance in support items necessity but that is a story for another day, I really just think a few more UNIQUELY DIFFERENT items would be a really nice addition for the game

As a support main you should try to build that item more often. Even if your teammate is not CC'd it provides slow immunity for a couple seconds and boosts their speed. I can agree with you that there should be more impactful items, but I don't think another cleanse is a good idea. I'd also like to point out that I don't think I've seen anyone build edge of night for at least 20 games.

Oh and as a support main can I get your opinion on the ap support item? I don't think it's healthy for the game but I would like to hear the opinion of someone who actually mains the role and actually plays against it or uses it in lane.

they kinda feel like "why do i need damage on soraka" the movement speed from item 3113 items is nice but then theres stuff like item 3905 which is meh, item 3174 IS ALMOST ALWAYS GOOD like seriously, item 3504 is a cursed item that you (when you buy it as a support) are like meh, but then your adc does damage and its like O_O well then, and it tears into tanks if they dont have aftershock or something, item 3157 core support item obviously, pretty high quality, item 3107 feels like its missing something, resistances probably, item 2065 ever since it got removed from a core item it feels really awful, like I MIGHT NEED IT but I mean im gonna be sad to have to buy it, item 3190 is decent on tanks not mages so i mean.............. yeah ap support items kinda weak rn, ardent and athenes are strong af but then you start falling off with usefulness unless you count zhonyas

I was referring specifically to the Spellthief's line. I feel like it gives too much damage and rewards you too much for dealing that damage while also being a sight stone.

it was better when you could buy sight stone independently, but it doesnt give too much damage, its just stuff like brand exists so its kinda weird, it needs a health regen addition and a ap drop probably

The reason I say it gives too much damage is not because of the actual ap it gives, but the passive extra damage on damaging spells, the one that has 3 charges and also gives bonus gold. In my games I often see a mage support abuse this and take over the lane, snowballing the lane even further out of control. I feel that the adc should be the one dealing damage, and the support should be supporting them by: providing shields, providing cc, warding, and healing. What I did not put on my list is deal more damage than the adc in lane. I do not have a problem with any other supports other than autofilled mid laners that play their champs bot and have success, and I feel that Spellthief's edge is responsible for my suffering.

Annie Brand Zilean all make the item pretty annoying to play against but i feel like its more item 3151 or item 3165 that is actually making bot lane mages annoying to play against

Except item 3222 has some serious problems, namely that you can't get out of a stun or suppress on yourself, and unless you're in voice chat with the person you use it on, they'll often not notice that you've used it on them.

I wouldn't want to see QSS become an AP item, but maybe item 3140 + item 3024 + item 1028 become a tank item.

i mean honestly i just want more than one item otherwise why is qss a base item at all just put in item 1057 and make the completed mecurial do the same thing ya know?

Mages are in a really good spot right now. Sure only ad champs get the qss item, but there is an overall lack of MR in the game I feel.

tbh i just feel like the game has base line bland items and could use a few more that are just I DO A THING THATS COOL AND NO OTHER ITEM DOES but that might be asking too much

I'll tell you what...

AP can have a QSS when AD can have a Zhonya's.

Implying GA is even close to being on Zhonya's level.

You can use Zhonya's 3 times before my GA comes off cooldown.

Yes and Mages have Banshee's.... That's your "Edge of Night".

Banshee's also has a shorter cooldown than EoN.

The only changes Mage Itemization needs is

Nerfs to Luden's to allow other choices to be built.

Luden's is just too good at everything, it's over shadowing GLP, RoA, Protobelt etc.
