Why is being toxic considered the norm?

I really dont get it. If you go to work in the day, and your co-worker makes a mistake you dont tell them "fucken moron i hope your mother gets cancer and dies, your so worthless". That is never going to get said. Just cause this is the internet does not mean its ok to say whatever you want.

Riot of all my years of playing this game i am highly disappointed in you. People threaten to murder each other on your game, and yet you and your community accepts it as a perfectly normal thing to say. How in any way is threatening murder an ok thing to say? How is wishing for someone to die an ok thing to say? How is wishing someone gets cancer, or hopes that someone kills themself in any way an ok thing to say?

Its not just Riot i am disappointed in, its this whole community. We as human beings should never let things like this stand and yet we do. You have no idea who that other person is your talking to. There is NEVER an excuse for talking to someone like this in a video game. So you lost a game cause of a person, so what? Queue up again and play another.

Yes there is a mute button, however just cause there is a mute button does not mean its ok to let people who talk like this keep playing your game. If people can not act mature then they should not be on an online game interacting with other people.

Because you're dealing with the unspanked Participation Trophy generation who were never taught things like respect and dignity. Most of these people don't understand that it is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose.

The people who react that way aren't doing it the first time they have a teammate that makes a mistake. Most people in this game are bad at this game in one way or another, that's especially true the farther down the rank ladder you go. Even if you yourself are bad most of the time you play games with people constantly making mistakes and negatively affect you and your team. After hundreds or thousands of games of this some people have frustration build up and build up until even little mistakes just set them off completely. But at that point it's hard to just stop playing the game if it makes you so angry because you've played so much that you've been conditioned to want to keep playing it, and not every game is like that but their frustration threshold has become much smaller over time. So it's not done because it's the norm, it's just kind of the reality of the situation for this kind of game. You don't see people acting this way as often, because I've worked with people who act this way in real life but they're usually my boss so I can't say anything to them, because the build up is much slower in most other settings. You don't work with different people as much irl as you would in a game of League where all of your teammates are completely different people every single time. This isn't meant to be an excuse or anything, just a explanation for probably what a lot of these super toxic people experience.
