Yea, except for the fact that his abilities have almost ZERO range, and almost every other mage in this game has better poke than him. And it's not like it's hard to chunk him down (or outright kill him) before he gets close enough to root/stun/whatever you. And even if he's actually able to get close to you, he has no burst, so it's not like it's hard to blow him up. But yea...no counterplay.

I'm a mage-player (mostly) but I have to stop you here. 
Ryze can build these 3items, being kinda tanky and still dealing tons of damage behind his "skillshots" oriented kit, when you can have a 2 seconds point and click root coupled to a huge shield, and hitting all his abilities at once.

he has uninteractive wave clear meaning you can't push him in if he says you aren't going to, and if you do manage to outwave clear him he has his ulti to follow roams

Ryze is a safe hyper carry when played correctly and damn near unstoppable similar to azir. ( this been said much like in yasuo's, and azir's case when done incorrectly they are beyond worthless and a liability for your team more so then other champions.)
when people argue ryze has no counter play, they arent talking about his dueling potential they are talking about his absurd safety whilst scaling into a nightmare.
this is why ahri was nerfed this is why azir was gutted this is why ryze has been reworked multiple times
Saftey + scalings is an unhealthy combination.
This isn't even mentioning the new bullshit he can pull of like 2 minute tear ans stop watch to pad his safety even more.
Ryze isn't OP, he is busted. Any time he has been relevant he is oppressive, and when ever he is mastered he is untouchable.
Its a sad state of affairs for the blue man.

vgamedude1 votesAnyone who says ryze has no counterplay is delusional. His winrate alone shows he has extensive counterplay since it's absolutely horrible.
His main damage move is also a skill shot, and if you use your e to empower your w for the extra length on the snare then you lose out on damage.
It's hilarious some people saying he has no counterplay probably play auto attacked based ADCs.

his main damage isnt a skill shows because point and click root / low CD. even if you miss it you are not really punished. its similar to Yasuo cassi and azir ( except cassi doesnt have the same excape tools and yasuo is in melee range ).

Dude his Q is easily missed and his root lasts freaking .75 seconds unless you e enhance it and if you do you cut your damage a load.
Hell go watch Jensen miss loads of Qs the last time he played ryze and he's definitely better than you or I.
People calling ryze broken have no evidence for it and all evidence is to the contrary yet you all are still so insistent.

Hearing your anecdotes on why he's busted doesn't mean much though. Hell calling ryze a hyper carry when he tickles front liners compared to adcs and his main damaging move is a skill shot like he has is pretty weird.

Bursted is different then over powered. am i saying ryze is currently a strong pick? no, im saying if he becomes one, we will see ahri/azir 2.0. a safe scaling mage capable of consistent DPS and in snow ball cases decent burst
