Sona is just easy to play, not OP. Nothing to see here folks!

58% means OP. When janna had 54-55% she was op af. I don't even want to know how op sona is.

Seems that you are using champion.gg. At plat, it's not just Sona, but ZIlean, Yorick, Malzahar, Anivia, plus many more that are above the ideal 52% mark. Now, notice this - when you change the level to "bronze" on it, Taric goes to 58%, Yorick is 57.3%, Sona is 57.3%, Malzahar is at 56%, etc. (Heck, about 60 of the builds on the site are above 52%.)

In short, everything is hinky now - especially considering that a lot of the third party websites have not finished updating to the new patch (with its many, many changes). When the 3rd party sites finish their updating of the algorithms (which many have not finished since the change to the API a month or so ago), and the runes get scaled to where Rito thinks they should be, things are going to be a bit "off".

You're wrong. If you actually go on op.gg and check the win rates frequently, you'll remember that Sona's win rate was (and still is) very high no matter what elo you're in.

Not wrong - just pointing out that different sites use different algorithms. Plus Riot's new API is giving many of the database wonks headaches (due to formatting, time allowed for access, etc.). According to op.gg, Sona is 54.8% currently - at the time that I post this. And she is lower on other sites (53%) and yet higher on some others (56%). There is just insufficient data to start doing a Janna-gate/Kayle-gate on Sona - too many players are trying out lots of things and the meta is shifting around rapidly.

So far the current build (using Aerie) on Sona has led to a spike - and some of the other champs that used to counter her, such as Soraka and Co. have fallen off. This is because the Resolve tree is so heavily underpowered. This may not be a case of "nerf Sona" - rather it could be a case of bringing the other runes up in level to balance out the Aerie dominance. Because frankly, after spending a weekend playing them, I can tell you that if you can't do significant damage in some way (and Sona pokes and heals) then you are going to have a tough time as a support.

In the alternative, Aerie could just be nerfed (or rejigged) and things will fall back into line quickly.

You've got some good points here. The unreliable data, the chaos of preseason, but I want to point out Aery.

Before Masteries Reforged, Sona's best options for keystone were Thunderlord's to compensate for her lack of a kit or Windspeaker's to pretend she wasn't literally last-pick on the ENTIRE list of Ardent supports for worlds. As most should remember, Thunderlord's was a gutted keystone that had seen numerous nerfs. Not to say Thunderlord's was bad, but it wasn't even comparable to Aery. As for Windspeaker's... it didn't provide damage. I don't need to go any further into analyzing it.

Sona's increased damage from Aery's ARTIFICIAL DAMAGE caused a kneejerk initial increase in winrate, but Meddler knew that if left alone for any longer, it would've settled back down, probably even lower than pre-Aery. Which is exactly why Meddler intentionally gutted her pre-emptively during the confusion to manipulatively solidify the misnomer that sheeple created.

All the healing/shielding supports are broken right now because ADC's are overpowered as Hell with the new runes and because the rune Aery makes them ridiculous.

Nami is also pretty ridiculous

Meanwhile things like Brand support are a lot worse now because no deathfire.

Is it the Aery rune making her strong right now?

Speaking as a Sona main here...

Yes (along with Manaflow in the same tree).

But even Inspiration (Klepto) is proving quite effective on her. Combine it with gold coin and she spikes early (via the support items she gets). And as we all know from the last major rework that Sona got, a Sona with no mana problems can be quite strong.

It could be Kleptomancy rune, according to champion.gg it is her highest winrate build, ez is also doing really well with that rune, ADC ez. I did hear that kleptomancy is probably the OP thing now. Gp seems also to be abusing this rune.

There's also the fact that there's lack of MR runes so sona poke hurts alot.

I say keep Sona where she is xD

Another winrate sheeple. How many times must Rito point out that winrate =/= power? The real facts are that Sona is unplayable trash. Her winrate is being artificially inflated by bronze players abusing the fact their opponents don't realize their mouse has a right-click function. Sona has the lowest stats across the board of any support in the game. She's a troll-pick, the only Ardent-user that teams REFUSED to pick at worlds. I automatically report EVERY Sona I see with the context, "Assisting the enemy: picked Sona." and I receive instant feedback quite frequently on these too.
