Is the active really worth taking up an extra item slot and spending an extra 1600g?

I played a few games as ADC today and felt like my Supports had no mid-game presence without something like or .

Personally, my Nami/Soraka builds usually look something like this late-game. and then something like so I can peel a little bit more (especially on ) and make my AP-Scaling Utility Passives/Abilities a little stronger.

I just see as being pretty inefficient purchases for a role that has always revolved around gold efficiency.

I love item 3092 for scouting late game, especially when you have no vision of the enemy team and want to place some deep wards. Of course it's situational, but I often build this item just for the active if I think I will need it (especially if my team isn't warding well).

Also, if I have any active items like item 3190 or item 3222 (or item 3092 even), item 2045 allows those item actives to be up 20% more often, which essentially raises the gold efficiency of those items.

Honestly, I like the Sightstone upgrades ( item 2303 item 2302 item 2301 ).

While I might miss out on the actives, they let me rush other items earlier into the game which I find to be more influential for my team. For example:

item 3110 item 3190 item 3512 item 3143 item 3504 item 3060

(i.e. Frozen Heart, Locket of the Iron Solari, Zz'rot Portal, Ardent Censor, etc).

Though, you have to take my judgement with a grain of salt since I rarely play support.

While I know it might not be optimal, I like how it feels and works.

item 2303 item 2302 item 2301 are the best items for supports gold efficiency wise.

item 3512 item 3190 come in at a close second.

I would definitely include Frozen Heart as one of the most cost efficient support items due to the power of the aura. An AoE 15% attack speed slow might not be the most noticable, but it is rather powerful.

Honestly, my support tank builds always seem to end up looking like: item 3047 item 2303 item 3110 item 3190 item 3512 item 3143

While some items may be situation, I just find that to offer everything I could possibly want.

item 3047 item 2303 item 3190 every game this is my core whenever i play a tanky support like Braum Leona .

after that i look at what i need most. item 3083 quite often i go for this if i need it it helps a ton when you do a lot of hit and run tactic's item 3143 is my to go to if the adc is fed item 3512 when my team doesnt push.(grinds my gears when my team doesnt push) item 3026 i used to get this back when i was in bronze because of all the people focusing the tank there, now not so much.

item 2045 now if only they would up the cost a bit let it be build out of item 2049 + item 3067 and give it 10-20% cdr you would see every support and their mother build it.
