Lyte wasn't the only person in charge. Some more specific info can be found in RiotGhostcrawler's ask FM here: http://ask.fm/RiotGhostcrawler

was he in charge AT ALL

I'm pretty sure he was in charge of the player behaviour section. Multiple teams were involved in dynamic queue, with multiple people in charge. The guy just started a family, give him a break. He had his reasons for leaving.

give the guy a break? Why are you telling me to give lyte a break? What are you trying to suggest here exactly?

I'm saying he's gone. Stop chasing him with a torch. Address the current heads of Dynamic queue properly instead.

chasing him with a torch???? What the actual fuck are you talking about? What the hell are you even accusing me of?

What is it you thought you read exactly? Read the title again.

also does ghostcrawler have a PHD in behavioral studies? or anything similar

Why does it matter? Riot has people other than Lyte that know about player behaviour. Ghostcrawler was in charge of the systems stuff, not the behaviour stuff from my gatherings.

It matters because dynamic queue is partly about behavioral trends and why the community reacts a certain way to certain things.

To release something like this just as the apparent lead expert within your ranks leaves your company sounds a bit like a dubious move to me. Not suspicious or bad, just dubious.. questionable.. I want to question the perceived results.

They released it and Lyte left like 3 months later. He didn't just get up and leave. He more than likely trained others to fill the job and then took his leave.

RiotGhostcrawler states in one of the questions that in hindsight they should have tried new champ select without dynamic queue, but they ran out of time and had to made a final call. Most of the questions you're thinking about are likely answered directly in his ASK.fm

I seriously doubt 3 months Is long enough to train anyone to do this kind of study. But it does sound like he may not have left before the results came in which is good. So anything within around 3 months of dynamic Queues release is more likely to be accurate under the assumption the guy with the PHD in such matters didn't make any mistake.

One does not simply hand off a project and expect a smooth transition though. So I wonder who's in charge of such studies now.

I look at the podcast and don't immediately see the info I'm looking for but maybe I'll find more later

He didn't start training them then... he finished the training by then. They were working on Dynamic queue and new champ select for months, and he got married fairly recently too (life decisions etc.)

I'm not entirely sure who's in charge of the behaviour studies now.

Yeah, I think there are some relevant responses all the way back to 3 months ago on there, but it's woven between questions on key fragments and hextech crafting along with other stuff.

It looks like due to bugs Lyte probably left before they could get the results of their experimental queue system

No, he did not leave before DQ was released.

no, I'm not anti-lyte either.

I just think its common sense to question a behavioral study when the resident PHD on such studies has left the building... I don't know the qualifications of the new person in charge of this or even who it is. For all I know its just Morello in a wig.

"hrmmmm the players seem grumpy, lets nerf irelia and see if they like DQ moar"

I'm also pro-DQ btw but I wonder how its being studied and who is leading this effort. There is no guarantee its the best of the best.

Pretty sure he did not work out, at all, so the PHD doesn't seem to be a good qualifier of skill. All Lyte did was ruin tribunal and post on twitter about how happy he is about a woman that made his life complete. In other words. He enjoyed a few years making no significant contribution to the game I love.
