[Discussion:] Is it possible to create a competitive ranked environment without losing?

Hey guys.

So, we've all been there. We're playing ranked, and it feels GREAT when we're winning. It's a fun environment, and it feels nice. And then we lose. And then we lose some more. And all of that pressure on us for losing, for whatever reason it may be, causes a harsh detrimental effect (tilt as we know it.) So, I was wondering -

Is it possible to create a competitive ranked environment without a losing factor, for example?

I know that losing causes me to tilt, and sometimes I become a very nasty person (passive aggressively). It's an awful habit, and I try to change / fix it. But, why do I act this way? The system teaches us Winning rocks, losing sucks. Is there any way we could keep the 'winning rocks' portion, and remove the 'losing sucks' portion?

What do you guys think?

That really isn't possible in this style of game. Every competition has winners and losers, even if you sugarcoat it some people will still feel that way.

In a way, that happens every game. There's never a point where you don't have the most something good, most wards placed, most kills, most turrets destroyed, most damage taken, etc.

It's impossible. This is the reason why toxicity exists. And also the reason why League will never be free of it.

I think you need to grow up, losing is a part of the game and a part of life, get used to it.

I don't think that makes any sense. What is competition? How can you have a competition if everyone wins?

You can't have winners without losers.

remove failure state and suddenly you're not in a game, you're in a drug state. Gotta get that win man...
