So, I just realized that Riot took away the Crit Chance from Youmoo's Ghostblade...
...when and why did they do this?

That happened in patch 5.22. With the extra options that were made available to Marksmen we decided to focus Ghostblade more towards assassins and other AD building champs who aren't as drawn to crit.

The only downside of this change was making Infinity Edge an unviable option for AD caster assassins, though
You can still take Infinity Edge and build an Essence Reaver on Talon for example.
+
is still good for AD casters, and I love the raw AD on Youmu's now it feels much better as an early game item.

That's not a downside. Assassins have very low counterplay, their burst should be predictable and largely countered by building armor and surviving their rotation. Their auto attacks should not be something tanks have to worry about.

Add the crit back but make it 25%. Make it melee only. Buff the ad by 15 and lower the price by 500G.

wut? "add 1000+ g of stats and reduce its cost by 500g"
The item is already in a very strong spot. We don't need to make it Guinsoo's Rageblade level of broken.
RIP my IE Ghostblade Nocturne...
EDIT: Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured the reason would be. But it was a great option for Assassins, or do you forget when it was a staple on Twitch and Lucian? Pretty common pickup for Talons who wanted IE, too.
I think its actually still better on nocturne! Sure nocturne likes crit but honestly I think the ad is better on him overall since he wont be stacking crit.
In that context, why did you deside to rework trinity, ER and hurricane into crit items, rather than adding new items? This is my biggest issue with the preseason changes. Right now, i feel forced into crit builts on ad-champs, and that is bad. I'm clearly against RNG, and befor preseason, i had viable options to opt out of RNG, like an actuall ad-caster built with ER rush into LW+trinity or a lifesteal focused built with hurricane. And trinity aswell as ER were quite usefull on non-adc champs, especially trinity. Actually, most trinity users are/were not very crit-focused, so why the choice to break the 'trinity' by destroying the 30ad, 30ap and 30as picture, and most off all, why replace it with crit?? I think that there are more reasonable options for trinity changes, like replaceing crit with a stinger or recursive bow, or even a kircheis shard. Especially as it seems that trinity isn't meant to be an caster-adc item, as it only gives 20%crit and ER, THE (new)caster-adc item, now needs 30% cdr to reach max cdr, which makes trinity feeling bad as followup for ER.
Aditionally, why exactly was Zephyr removed? i don't think it was so out of line that it had to be reomved, the idea of an mobillity focused AS+AD item on it's own doesn't seem like a problem for me. Also, some context in the reduction of tenacity would be nice...
And a last one: Why was TBC changed once again? now it is not really a juggernaut/bruiser item, nor a great ad-caster item, but somewhere in between. Wouldn't it have been a better idea to split it up into a tanky cleaver(White Cleaver) and a damage focused cleaver(Black cleaver), makeing it a pairing similar to the Hydras?
That 15% crit was super awkward on it.

It was good to make Infinity Edge a good option on assassins like Talon, though. But on my opinion Ghostblade is now better with extra raw AD (for ability scaling).
Going to be honest here, assassins probably shouldn't be able to build crit.
They already kill targets super quickly, when they crit it just makes things die way too quick.
There's a thing called patch notes. Read them.
I don't really understand why people are downvoting you.
If I remember correctly, they did this when they rolled out the pre-season update (patch 5.23, I think?) I'm not clear on the details as to WHY they did this, however.
If he was downvoted, it's probably because "Google is a thing that exists".

5.22. The reason was because they wanted focus the item more for assassins. The crit. was a rather bad stat on the item and wasn't worth the gold you put into it for most champions who bought. So they removed it and used the gold to purchase more AD for the item, if you will. With over twice the AD it previously had, It's a better item now for the people who want it.
Adding to Sona, assassins should be predictable in their damage - both for themselves and the opponent.
I love the new Yomumu's Ghostblade! Its stats are great, and the active is powerful. And the recipe is so cool! I love to rush it on my favourite marksmans, and I don't really miss that crit chance, sorry xD
