I would recommend starting with a defensive item over offense.

I know that the order of your inventory is not necessarily the order in which you purchased the items, but if you are rushing for Blade of the Ruined King first you are not really doing yourself much of a favor.

The fact that Aatrox is not strong in general right now means you are better off using his natural sustain to your advantage without trying to enhance it through damage.

Instead start with something like Spirit Visage, Randuin's Omen, or Dead Man's Plate.

These items will make you more durable so when you go to trade with your enemy you will stay alive long enough for his sustain to actually amount to something.

BotRK may even be good as a 3rd or 4th item, delayed by a second defensive one.

Will try that. It's just that aatrox is too weak when starting randuin/spirit visage. I deal no damage to a darius, ekko, riven etc.

Which is why he is considered weak at the moment. He doesn't have much early game presence, aside from having an automatic Guardian's Angel.

All you can really hope to do is out sustain your opponent. Riven and Ekko don't have any built in sustain, so you need to be able to smack them in the face with your wet noodle until they start to feel it. Basically, don't get killed and they won't be able to snowball as hard because they will need to rely on cs, the same as you. If you do this enough without dying, you can keep your own health up from attacking minions and they will eventually have to leave the lane while you stick around and get more gold and exp.

It's not fool proof, but when you can't out trade, you have to out sustain.

try bots for awhile bud aatrox isn't really a good champion right now, and low elo where skill is missing its usually the better champion matchups that win. From looking at that I'd say you need a lot of practice with him.

the unfortunate side effect of season 7 is that everyone who was boosted from last season needs to fall out of whatever rank they previously held. this takes games. just wait a while and then come back to league.

im plagued with team mates who want to play off meta and first time in ranked. enemy team? may as well be in the LCS with meta only try hard counterpicks with the sole intent to win.

now im going to wait until late march to play again where it will hopefully be better than what im experiencing in ranked.

Im sad that off-meta picks don't work anymore and that there is Lee/Cait/Syndra in every match. I played Amumu jung some time back and they said "who plays Amumu jungle in s7". I wanted to play him and i don't understand why people judge by picks and flame before that person shows how he/she plays... I don't know what happened to league.
