you tell someone to kill themselves. You act all funny and do not see how dangerous those words are. Not everyone is as mentally stable as you think. Some people are actually extremely depressed because of their real life and stuff and just want to play a match of league to calm down. Obviously they can't play to their extend because they still think about the problems irl. Now you come in, you notice they play bad and flame them. It doesn't help anyone, it just prevents them from calming down. Some people are even so much depressed that they were close to kill themselves for real. Do not encourage someone to commit suicide by saying "kys". Coming from me, I have been depressed for a long time too. I was close to commit, but I didn't, which is why I am here today and I am glad my life is somehow normal again. Others do not have the opportunity to change things to the better right now, keep that in mind.

And if someone had typed "kys" at any point during your depression, would you not be here right now?

As someone who has struggled with depression for years, being told to "kys" would not make me want to kill myself directly. It does, however, affect a depressed psyche at a different level.

This game helped bring me up to manageable levels of depression instead of the suicidal mindset I actually was dwelling in at the time I began playing. Being told to "kys" would never make someone commit suicide, but it might eventually push players like me away from a game that was having a positive impact on our lives... which could lead them back to a state of deep depression and suicidal behavior.

As it becomes a more and more common phrase, the growing popularity of "kys" just drains a person with depression of any hope for society. Depressed people are heavy thinkers. And thinking about how desensitized and careless society is brings those suffering down to even deeper levels. And there is a point where some people will succumb to their depression in one terrible, final, violent act.
