They think that needs buffs...

Riot balance team : Lets buff his AP BUILD GUYS!!!!

They are completely out of touch with the game current state, sylas needed straight up nerfs, got buffs instead.

And yet another patch with 0 ezreal, lb, zoe nerfs (all champs dominating pro aswell), yet another conqueror nerf when theres almost 0 conqueror users in competitive right now (top lane is jayce kennen vlad liss tanks).

Speaking strictly on the topic of Sylas, it was a buff to his AP build and a nerf to his tank build (which is what everyone has a problem with)

IIRC this is how they tackled tank Ekko and tank Fizz, buffing their AP ratios and reducing the base damage of the ability forces people to build AP and causes tank builds to fall off.

I think they should have gone much further with the nerfs, but baby steps are still steps in the right direction.

Nobody builds full tank sylas in current patch.

At most ppl build a gauntlet and tabi, and then they go full ap after that.

This is a buff for that build, as they max Q anyway and rank 1 W (which is currently too strong) got straight up buffed.

Full tank, no, people aren't building 6 full tank items on him.

However if you look at the probuilds for Sylas (right here) a lot of players are taking some form of the following build:

Aftershock or Grasp with:
Abyssal Mask
Zhonyas
Merc Treads / Tabi
ROA
Protobelt
Iceborn

He's still got an insanely tanky build path with a built in heal, shield, dash/knockup (reliably procs Aftershock and gets him in close to heal) and it's not really the way he was intended to be played (squishy, goes mid, takes electrocute, and builds pretty much full AP instead of items like Iceborn)

His ultimate's power is heavily reliant on the person he's stealing it from, meaning a tank build like this is even easier to perform well with when you've got a Karthus ult, Soraka ult, Neeko ult, or something else suited to teamfighting like a Nasus ult.

Soloq and pro play are 2 very different scenes in terms of balance. Right now Sylas is actually pretty damn strong, nerfing him would put him out of pro play(maybe) the problem with Sylas in pro play isn't exactly the same issues that Sylas has in soloq. In pro play, he's OP, because a majority of the good champs in pro play have great teamfighting or dueling ultimates and the ability to have all those at your fingertips, is absolutely amazing. The problem people have with him in soloq is that his W gives him too much hp when he's low. Its the same shit with Zoe, in pro play shes played because she has great mobility and can get in and out while taking out a champion or maybe even two, the problem in soloq is similar but not the same, the problem in soloq is that she simply bursts people down too much and doesn't have much counterplay. Problem is, that most pros know how to avoid her E whereas bronzies like yourself don't know how to dodge it.

Dude's a garbage pick, tbh. They only pick him in pros because everything's so limp dick because everything's being nerfed down.

He's not actually good. There's just not that much that's good that's left.

Bad champions do not have 52% wr 19% pick rate 43% ban rate in diamond plus, and yes this is solo q as in competitive we all know hes broken already.

Just saying.

My comment was largely on competitive. Pro play just plays around the logistics of solo queue changes. They don't actually get to a play a balanced League of Legends. With that said, whenever they resort to picking picks like Nunu, Yorick, and Sylas, it isn't because they're actually good. It's because their ACTUAL picks have been nerfed out.

Think about it: Top side is STILL largely devoid of tanks. Then they started nerfing the top side fighters, anyway. So they just slapped a relatively un-nerfed champ, like Sylas, in that position. He's not good. He's just not nerfed yet. If they buff back some of the dudes they nerfed out, or gave Sylas the same treatment they gave everyone else, he's not gonna be in the pro meta again.
