Unpopular opinion - Grievous Wounds is an unhealthy mechanic.

When QSS wasn't able to remove Zed, Trundle and Fiora ults anymore people were furious at first. In the end though it turned out to be a really good investment to balance the affected champions in the future because previously, you had to give their ults tremendous power just because you had to keep QSS in mind. A single item countering out whole ultimates was a really unhealthy interaction so Riot got rid of it, with positive results.

And I would argue that with Mortal Reminder and Executioner's Calling it's pretty much the same. Granted, people rarely buy it around my MMR but if they do they just make a lot of abilities half as effective, for example Fiddlesticks Drain or DrMundo ultimate and passive. While balancing these champions it's pretty much the same as with old QSS, you always have to keep in mind that the enemy will buy Executioner's Calling which means that you have to balance whole abilities around a 800 gold purchase which is just as unhealthy as old QSS was imo.

Don't even bother. People have such hateboners for sustainers (even though natural healers are CD based and usually have caveats on their sustain anyway - Fiddle has to stand still, Vladimir has short range, reduced vs minions, and enemies can see the fucking cooldown, Mundo's main is on his ultimate, Swain's is on his ultimate and costs a metric fucktonne of mana, etc...), while ignoring how hilariously busted Lifesteal is right now.

I'm with you 110%.

Congrats on being another one of us masochistic enough to bring this subject up, these threads seem to get downvoted every damn time. Upvoted because I definetly agree with you.

Is the problem Grievous Wounds, or is the problem how Executioner's Calling applies Grievous Wounds? As a mage we've got too get Mundo pretty stinking low on health before Morellonomicon kicks in to hurt his healing, with him healing while our spells are on CD.

Midlaners often have ignite though.

They also often have Exhaust, Teleport, Ghost, Heal, Cleanse, and Barrier, what's your point?

I'd say the way it's applied; mages have to hit an enemy at low health with an ability to apply it, but all the other physical damage champions can use auto-attacks (which are unavoidable & spamable) or abilities to apply it while not having such a limitation.

In Morellonomicon's case, a lot of healing is designed to be strongest at low health. Vladimir DrMundo Olaf Darius Gangplank Zac All of these guys get more healing when they are at low health. Morellonomomomomomomoninonocom makes their healing weak when it should be strongest. It's still a million times healthier than Executioners calling or Ignite, but yeah :P

1000 heals and lifesteal aren't healthy too

then tell me how to outplay the caitlyn healing 250hp per auto? or the swain pressing R and walking around like an inbred.Or the Yasuo autoattacking and beeing a draintank. etc etc

That's exactly what I'm talking about. As long as Executioner's Calling exists, all these champions will need to have this kind of healing because it'll be cut in half just by that one item purchase.

Just removing Executioner's Calling instead and nerfing the heal they get in the first place in return would be the perfect way to balance it imo.

I can see where he's going with this. Some of the late game healing is pretty dumb. Whenever I'm ahead as Nasus I build BT and heal 2/3 of my health with 1 Q.

I kind of wish Swain just didn't exist sometimes.

this isn't an opinion that should be unpopular, but sadly it is.
