Mid lane is hard to enjoy

Big Lincoln··3 votes·1,519 views

still looking for the champ I can play and enjoy, since most of them are kinda ehh at the moment

Syndra feels like she takes too long to ramp up right now and her stun is really clunky for me. idk her early game feels a lot worse than i remember it being last season

Veigar is, well..

I guess there's still Azir Viktor Karthus but I feel like I need to find someone with a strong early game if I need to pick someone who fits that

and then I'm still trying to get Cassiopeia up to a point where I can enjoy her at all, no success yet

I bought Orianna the other day but I'm not sure how to use or build her outside of trying to land my ult on the most-clumped group of people I can, some tips would be nice

some recommendations would be wonderful, it's super iffy on who i wanna play. a strong roamer would be pretty great too, i need one of those

Dude U can't have fun on mid lane unless you are playing Zed, Le Blanc or Katarina. Deal with it. As long as Mana Regen remains poor as it is now, mages won't be fun to play at all. What is the point of playing Xerath, Orianna, Ziggs etc and get OOM when u can play Zed and Katarina...No mana, free poke, more damage than mages, more reliable damage than mages, point click abilities, sustain....Kata and Zed have everything u need as a mid laner.

Big Lincoln1 votes

i'm really bad at Xerath but the few times i played him, i didn't go OOM that much

assassins aren't fun at all though, they've got some of the least interesting kits (if not generally the worst designed too)

that said I do love Diana

Xerath has his passive I really never find mana prob with him or tf

I dunno about you, but I have a lot of fun with Veigar . I played as him the other day against a Ryze and it was a slow early game, but once you start to spike, you spike hard. Finished the game with about 1162 AP or something like that. His scaling on abilities is just so much fun.

Big Lincoln1 votes

That is why I like him at the moment because his late game is definitely better and lobbing Luden's-boosted super-Q's and ult's at people is never a bad way to spend your day

but idk his early feels miserable in a lot of match-ups right now, and it feels really rough to be forced to farm without a chance to make good plays on your own. a lot of the issue with him imo is that he's unreliable in a bad way that makes it hard to highlight his own skill

I guess I can see where you're coming from. I think his Event Horizon delay should be shaved down about 0.1 or 0.15 seconds, give him a little more ease landing it. That, or decrease the delay of Dark Matter to about 0.5-0.75 seconds or so. This would give him more dependable play-ability early game, as you might be able to hit W without having to worry about missing your E. I definitely think making his Baleful Strike a skillshot and its new behavior was definitely the right way to go though. Getting early AP and mana items (Like item 3070 ) helps you secure farm a lot better.

I'm on the fence with Tear/Seraph's

it's definitely fantastic for him come late game because he gets a massive AP chunk that benefits his inevitable Deathcap buy

but at the same time, being able to just rush Morello's and power-spike so much sooner is... hard to turn away from

True. I typically rush tear and then grab a Amplifying Tome for some on the side damage so he isn't completely useless in the meantime. It really is a personal preference I think, because the early spike is incredibly beneficial if you want to shut someone down early instead of letting them limp on for a bit while you invoke the mother of all magyks.

I love mid-lane. I often use Anivia TwistedFate Velkoz

TF in particular I love playing as. And you don't have to build any mana item on him (well, other than Sheen/Lich Bane, which is a must), just use Blue Cards.

Rico Nasty1 votes

-pick up akali, she got nerfed but she's still really fun -karma is a great AP mid mage pick -zyra is difficult to use but can get scary if used correctly -ahri is fun as well

just a few ideas.

Copyrat1 votes

Zyra is nice if you're new to mid lane. You have free wards to be safe from ganks and an aoe range spammable skill to farm from range. You might not be using her to her true potential, but you can get some uncontested farm, while being more aggressive and getting killed in lane will only serve to dishearten you.

After you get a hang of it, you can try going for trades.

Hex the FenFen1 votes

Zyra is actually rather challenging, and I would not suggest it to anyone horridly new to mid-lane. Learning where and when to spawn plants and when to poke with her is what really shows what kind of player you are. Her mana pool early game is horrid. But great for poking if you know how to well.

Then play another champ why people think you can only play these champs and no one else in a certain lane is beyond me. Well then what champ do you enjoy playing. Ez with ad marks and ap glphys and making it even as possible on the quins and 27 0 and 3 on masteries is fun. Get that runaans :) use no mana wave clearing lol

Big Lincoln1 votes

because most other champs aren't.. fun for me? idk most assassins are pretty much samey in either their kit or how you're gonna play them

most of the champs i like are either in a poor spot or they're FOTM banned right now and i've been left in a shitty situation

Sirsir1 votes

Then maybe don't play mid right now? There are four other roles to play... Or maybe play things like Ez or Corki mid.

Big Lincoln1 votes

i main jungle, it's getting pretty frustrating in soloQ as a tank main so i'm trying to go back to playing everything instead of one role

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

I've been enjoying Malzahar and Ziggs recently, personally. Malzahar is great for shredding tanks and Ziggs is great for sieging/stalling out games or poking around objectives.

Orianna has a bit of a learning curve, but is very rewarding when played well. One big thing is to shield your initiator, since it lets you easily set up good ultimates. Especially now that Athene's Unholy Grail is stronger again.

Big Lincoln1 votes

i do like Malzahar quite a lot

so is Athenes' a better purchase on her than Morello's?

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

On Orianna, I believe so. It costs a bit more and you lose 20 AP, but you get MR and far more mana regen so you can spam spells far more freely.

Sirsir1 votes

Him*

And it depends. Need Offensive or Defensive? Thanks to his E Malz doesn't need a lot of help with mana.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

I believe they were referring to Orianna with the her since I mentioned Athene's with regards to Orianna, not Malzahar.

Sirsir1 votes

Ohhhh, my apologies.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

Orianna is super easy especially now since tank junglers are so popular. Really surprised she's not fotm now. Just stick the ball on an initiator and use your spells when they go in. Most important stat is cdr, max that out however you can.

For strong early laning, consider Morgana . http://champion.gg/champion/Morgana/Middle

For winning lane, it is best to shove the lane hard with W so they do not have minions to hide behind (and you hit level ups first). It is a risky if they have strong ganking jungler, but she does have some pretty good tools to escape after you have all your abilities. If you can lock down your lane opponent, she has very high single damage for one rotation of abilities. The reason she is not noted as a damage threat is because her basic abilities have fairly long cool downs.

If you do get a lead, she has some of the best tools for pushing that lead to close out games before she falls off later. Her ult gives strong team fights, her Q is great for picks, and Q + W's wave clear are good for sieges. And E can save people from being in a bad spot as team mates often are.

If behind, E is still good for allowing a team mate that is ahead carry harder with less risk and she has a lot of CC lock down to offer.

DrProfVibeCheck1 votes

Xerath Love this guy. Can out poke about any mid laner. His ult is good for executing a run away champ, and is very satisfying to kill with. Annie Her abilities are.....stunning Ba dum tish. Once you reach level 6, you can friggin summon a meteor of fur and fire that can stun the whole enemy team. Sona Meta-breaking I know, but her poke is way underrated. She also has a self sustain. In a team fight, its like you have 2 supports. Difference is, Sons could do damage. No lane clear though.

Yuumi or Lose1 votes

Well in low elo you can play Heimer because he is super easy mode but in high elo you want to play someone else because Heimer in high elo tends to get rofl stomped and hard countered and does nothing late game.

seXo Jon1 votes

I absolutely love Ahri and I have good success with her

Big Lincoln1 votes

I only played her once after I bought her, and it was into a Team Builder mirror match vs an Ahri main (who wasn't very kind to me despite me stating it was my first time)

kinda soured my taste, but maybe I'll try her again soon. what's her, uh, normal build and does weird shit like Lich Bane work on her?

EvilRabbitt1 votes

I build morello, athenes, ludens, death cap, sorc boots with alacrity , and either portal or scepter. :)

Ahri is super fun, like yasuo.

seXo Jon1 votes

there is no normal build anymore, anything goes.

U can rush ludens, morellonomicon, abyssal scepter, athenes, or zonyas.

everything seen in lcs :D

SlushieDee1 votes

Orianna tends to have good power in teamfights, seeing as you can just put the ball on an initiator and ult when they go in. I tend to only really use my Q to poke or farm, as it's hard to land her spells reliably with the ball freefloating. If you're getting chased and have the ball on yourself, you can use W to speed yourself up and slow enemies passing through the zone.

Only Play Darius1 votes

The main problem with midlane is the existence of Zed.

However, tank bruisers like Garen Darius Renekton Volibear MonkeyKing apparantly f*ck him up pretty bad so you can try them out mid.

NoMonku1 votes

I feel what you need to find right now is what kind of playstyle you actually enjoy. Do you like to be aggressive in lane or passive? Do you like to poke or burst? Do you prefer to carry or have more of a supportive role? If you can answer those, it should help narrow down what champions you will enjoy the most.

Big Lincoln1 votes

Veigar Viktor Karthus Azir

I definitely like having lots of damage when I'm not a tank

NoMonku1 votes

So do you prefer poke, DPS, or Burst?

IcyPepper1 votes

what about cc or other utility

Orianna can make for some great teamfights, much more than a Zed could.

Drackolus1 votes

Lux! Stand back, build item 3041, rack up kills and assists and don't die.

usul12021 votes

Have you considered Swain? his early game certainly isn't weak if you manage your mana, and his damage amp lets you Trade autos and win for nice poke. Sustain is great, and he doesn't fall off unless you just get stomped in lane. traditionally top, but against the assassin mid meta, he works well because of the generally tanky-power build.

Ada Wong1 votes

I still enjoy mid lane in fact my only game that really was a win today was mid lane games every other game has been No Communication, trolls, feeders all loss most of them lol but mid lane I was able to carry the players who did bad.
