Off Meta Supports CAN work ... within certain conditions
Too often, I find people getting flamed for not picking meta supports, even in normals. This is truly sad because out of 140+ champions, people are forced to pick things that aren't fun for them like Enchanters for example (no offense
players). While I also understand that off-meta supports can be worrisome, they can work.

and sometimes they don't.

But let me make something clear- it only works within certain conditions. I don't just pick whomever I want at any match up thinking i'm a boss ... there has to be given requirements for my picks to work out. For example, I also play
very well as a support but I look for the right circumstances:
-
Do they have a squishy support?
-
Did they pick a support that counters me? (
) -
Does our team have too many front-line tanks and not enough DPS?
-
Does my pick sync well with my ADC? (Not great with
, offers no real protection for him) -
Will my pick get poked too hard to stay in lane? (
) -
How does my pick manage if it goes into late game?
-
How skilled am I when playing this pick compared to my other mains?
-
Do they offer anything such as CC, tankiness, shielding, ect?
There's more, but you get the idea. I can't pick say,
support if their comp is something like
because I would get utterly destroyed and she wouldn't manage too well in the long run (especially team fights). I also wouldn't pick
if their team has
because my engages would put me at great risk, and I would be CC'd pretty hard to make it out alive to do anything else. It's all about understanding your champion, what goes well, what will ruin you- ect.
Even a support
can work if you know what you're doing and the circumstances are right. Just be sure to not pick whomever for one particular reason, think of the bigger picture and how it'll play it in team fights, so on and so on.
and honestly, it was terrifying. Even when playing supports like
to try stopping him from making those engages, a successful jump or ult + jump would result in your ADC losing a lot of HP, and that's not counting their ADC from assaulting your ADC.
