TLDR is that being good at the game's a really important skill, especially on some teams, but there's a lot of other skills we also look for (analytical ability, mentoring, management, organizational skill, problem solving etc).

One other thing worth mentioning: I'm also not on the balance team.

if there is indeed a gold player in the balance team i bet that he is so much more knowledgeable about the game than you ever will be. Also a single person is not responsible for everything so yeah, this is just a stupid thread with no point whatsoever

the balance team is actually diamond 1 (not sure if they cheated to get it instantly or what so ever) but they balance the game around plat+ which is a success since the game is close to be balanced there, but a total failure for master and above

Because Meddler understands how the game works, even if he does not have the mechanical skill/ ability to apply his knowledge to the game a higher ELO player may have. Or he just straight up does not have the time to play a lot.

You don't have to be high ELO to understand the game, and being ''High Elo'' does not mean one understands the game and how to balance it.

Meddler is a Platinum player (as shown by their ranking in previous seasons) who hasn't played enough ranked games to climb back up (yet).

implying your rank has anything to do with knowing game balance.

Hell the highest ranks of the player base and pro play are the ones that are primarily interested in abusing hat they can to maximize win efficiency.

Because game design is a cultivatable skill apart from reflexes and tactical decision making. Crafting an interesting experience doesn't mean you can necessarily bring out its maximum potential on your own.
