How does Evelynn manage to be so high of a WR at higher levels but not lower?

The champion has one of the worst early game dueling powers of the cast but one of the best late game presences due to her low base damage (Full base combo at level 3 capping off at a whopping 205 damage + 4% of her enemy's max health), but high ratios (Both basic spells beyond doubling their max rank base damage at as low as 160 AP).

It isn't as though low elo players can't find the right build for her, because other than a scant few off meta builds (raises hand), she builds the exact same five items in both levels of play every. single. game -- item 1402 item 3020 item 3089 item 3041 item 3100 item 3135, only occasionally swapping out item 3041 for item 3157

With how disorganised lower levels of play are, and how late they go, you would think Evelynn, an isolation based assassin, would flourish there, but instead she sits at one of the lowest winrates while simultaneously holding top 3 positions for a year and a half at diamond+

It isn't just a matter of MasterYi being able to run wild at lower levels either. The same condition of "just cc him" applies doubly to Evelynn, who can't cast half her abilities while snared and who has among the lowest resistances in the game. Both champions have a very straight forward gameplan when they start going off as well; Evelynn doesn't even need to land her charm or Q1 once she reaches late game, but the shorter games at higher levels should lead to her not being able to do anything just as it does for MasterYi. Yi is weak against early invades? Try tussling with an Udyr /XinZhao /Hecarim /LeeSin / Shyvana / Khazix level 3 when your entire combo doesn't even hit a third of their health before going on an 8 second cooldown. And yet she still sits at a comfortable 51% wr early at diamond+ before 15 mintues.

So what is it about these two champions that I'm missing?

She. Is. Team. Reliant.

90% of early game Evelynn kills generally originate from teammates who are compliant to ganks.

Low Elo is not.

If Evelynn doesn't have an early game that yields gold, she has no late game.

Also, using the same items/runes in different elos does not necessarily yield the same results.

In reality, Phase Rush is arguably Eve's best Keystone rune in low elo, while DH/Electrocute are better at high elo. Why?

In Low elo, your team is generally not reliable at all, so to achieve performance, you generally have to do more. Phase rush enables pursuit, running, and countering invades. DH and Electrocute is just a stat stick that does reasonably low damage at low levels, where it matters.

High Elo players get away with DH/Electrocute, because their team helps set them up to maximize them until she has 2 items. Low elo, it results in fights where Eve dies and her opponent has 20% HP left.

High Elo Drake/Baron are team activities. Low Elo Drake/Baron generally are expected to be done solo, or at least teams don't respond to them.

Low elo Gold bounties escalate feeds on steroids for laners.

Low elo bot lane specifically, generally is dead 69 seconds more than high elo bot laners by 7 minutes. This affects both Eve's potential gank possibilties, AND the fact that laners can begin to kill her before she can land anything on them. Top/Mid also die early with more frequency.

Evelynn is not a good champ at doing well vs fed champs!

Low elo simply do not play the control ward game. They neither kill them, nor do they place them. I've had low elo Evelynn games where I have cleared 5 Pink wards in 3 minutes, because my team literally doesn't touch them. And ofc..... if you're killing a ward, the opposing team knows where you are, and any ganks are foiled.

Evelynn is to Jungle what Yuumi is to Support.

I see, thank you for being so elaborate in your response. I played a lot lot lot of Evelynn before her rework where her variable build paths let her do what was needed in that particular game but can't seem to get anything going since her rework forced her into the same build every time. Is it worth still playing her while in low elo with enough practice, or do you think playing more traditional low-elo stompers until I get to more reliable teams would be better?

She's reliable as hell in all elos IF you adapt and realize that at lower elos, you have to do more work, and think of what you have to do to enable that.

There's a reason initial Eve users used to build GLP after her rework; added burst to counter the slippery situations. Phase Rush has the tradeoff that early it doesn't kill as much, but defensively early is strong, and offensively stong late. DH and Electrocute..... if you get a snowball going in low elo, you won't stop. You'll keep killing.

Sometimes you have a weak lane push team in low elo. You might have to learn how to split push with Eve.

It's a situation by situation issue.

Personally, there's a reason I use Morgana and Zyra over Evelynn right now; I am unstoppable as a carry with these two champs. Most people reasonably are, but they generally play a specific meta, which puts their performance 2-3% behind mine. For example, I build item 1402 item 2065 item 3100 etc on Zyra, because when Zyra moves fast, she's damn near unstoppable, especially with DH. I build item 3115 item 3100 on Jungle Morgana, because I take advantage of the fact most junglers are melee divers/gap closers who are susceptible to all the extra auto attack damage in between Qs and Rs, while the auto damage also boosts her W damage.

You won't see many Zyra or Morgana's playing these builds at all. Because they think meta is meta..... they think Morgana's auto attack range is slow, and Zyra needs DoT damage to do well.

But there's a major tradeoff to both concepts:

Zyra: DoT builds generally heavily lack CDR, hit a lot less often, for that DoT. They also generally move so slow, that diving champs will kill Zyra, even if she manages to kill them. She will also be in fewer fights.

Morgana: A slow escalation of W generally is why late game Morgana falls off and loses more late games. Adding auto attack while not really losing AP/survivability ramps up her W damage and keeps her relevant at ALL stages of the game. Also, she generally is a poor turret pusher, and Nashors compensates for that.

I want you to look at a couple games from today/recent:

Does this look like a Meta Morgana build or one that could put out that damage?

People don't seem to know that mid/late game champions can also gank earlier so they afk farm for the first half of the game while the other jg actually plays the game so it's 4v5. Eve players in specific are in some mindset where they cannot leave jg if they aren't 6 and even then wont likely gank until 1st item+. By the time an eve decides to play the game the snowball has already been decided.

Ok, otp Evelynn here! <3 She is really awesome in low tiers because people just don't know how to team up and not buying red wards so I manage to climb Bronze IV to Gold II and passing Silver just took a week. ^-^ [sg-kiko]

How do you manage to deal with the early level invades jungelrs so often get away with in lower elos? It can be hard enough just getting a leash some times, let alone getting team members to respond to an invade.

Start with these items item 1039item 2003item 2055 if you think enemy jungler will invade your jungle mostly champions like Kayn Vi JarvanIV LeeSin always keep vision in your jungle entrance near mid lane with item 3340 and item 2055 then buy this item 2031 later to get objectives. Evelynn has very decent jungle clearance and self healing so you don't always have to back to base. GL! <3 [slayer-jinx-catface]

(Assuming I'm on the blue team), control ward in the strip bush south of the pixel brush, and normal ward in the open gap just above red buff and to teh right of raptors?

Yes, it is best spot to place it if you start Blue but I usually start with Red to help lanes more often and placing Red Ward to Bush next to River like enemy jungler can't see it unless try to invade but if they saw a red ward in there they will just go back because it will warn ur mid laner come to help you for a free kill on counter invade. [sg-miss-fortune] Number 5 and 8 in this picutre for Red Start, 7 and 11 for Blue Start https://blog.gamersensei.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Mid-Lane-Blue-Early.jpg

I see, I was presuming the non contro lward woud go a little closer to the midlane in that open area to spot enemy movement left or right through it better.

In other news, I got my first S (well S-) on Evelyn since her rework building item 1416 item 3020 item 3089 item 3285 item 3165 item 3115 dealing far and away the most damage on the team, even outdamaging teemo's physical damage from his autos thanks to the 4% health added to E and the two autos afterward.

Hail of Blades and fwiw it was a bit of a fluke that I could get so fed but I don't think I'd have been able to get any near the number of double and triple kills I did with a more traditional EQR full AP one-shot strat. I used the reverse ult into partially charged W to chase down and finish off a lot of opponents that I couldn't otherwise as well. I'll see how it goes for a few more games and see if I can get those god damn mastery tokens that I've been unable to since the rework.

I mean visions kinda awfully in low so her passive redundant. There is some mechanics low elo players need for playing eve.
