The real issue with 5 bans per team
Yes, there is the argument of potentially banning out an entire person's champion pool, which is a fair point, especially for newer players which would only gate them further. Another part of the reason is that it would lengthen champion select just that much more, and create even more opportunities for potential dodges (which would worsen champ select experience more). But what I think the biggest reason we shouldn't have a total of 10 bans in games, is that it would make certain champions completely perma-banned. And not 80% no I mean actually 100%. And while some people don't think this would be much of an issue, it is. With the champion never seeing play, people will lose experience playing against said champion, making it even harder for them to play against (think on what happens with the "odd" LCS picks). And with a champion never seeing play, it would completely ruin the game for mains of said champions and mains of the champions counters. Finally, with the champion rarely ever getting played, it would make things difficult for Riot to judge where the problem is on the champion. Is he overall too OP? Or just unfun and needs some power adjustment to make things more fair? And it would be more likely for the champion to just be gutted accidentally than fairly adjusted and put in a good place. On a side note, for all those who complain it takes forever for a high ban rate champion to get changes, that's why: less games played = less data to find where the problem is that needs to be changed.
