Enemy bottom just won the lane with a 1% crit. Why the fuck is this still in the game?

Dodge was removed for exactly this reason, so why do crit runes still exist?

TBH crit iself needs to be removed

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

If crit needs removed then Ashe and Jhin would just be removed from the game because Jhin 4th shot is guaranteed crit and ashes W crit.

While we're on the subject, how about removing true damage and suppressions because people can't learn to play against it.

THE RlVER KlNG1 votes

Learn to play against unavoidable ranged nukes that have no downtime or resource?

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

Yes...playing against doesn't just mean moving around, it's building against it too. I know alot of people have certain builds they like to do, but in different situations it's good to leave your comfort zone for survivability, not just thinking it's possible to all in someone.

True damage yes it's a pain in the ass and vayne is known best for her W passive. Not much you can really do with that...but for crit, how this thread is going. Build an omen, it suppresses crit damage. Do crit still hurt? Hell yes they do! But it's still something to build to HELP against it.

In the end it comes down to two things.

  1. Did you outplay/build your opponent?

  2. Did your opponent defeat you? If yes try a slightly different build path.

TequilaZombie1 votes

No it doesn't. Specially with the way it works right now. It's not completely random and is just another damage multiplier.

THE RlVER KlNG1 votes

It gives ADC's ranged, unavoidable 500 + nukes twice per second. No other class of champions has access to unavoidable rapid nukes with no downtime or resource.

crit is part of the game and essential for certain champs to function.

Crit runes are not an essential part of the game and required for certain champs to function. They're stupid and allow RNG wins at early levels.

if crit runes were removed how do u justify crit items?

lets take adcs in general who have bad base ad scaling and rely on full ad/crit builds to maximize their damage output...

if all crit was removed from the game then every adc would have to have the highest base ad and the highest scaling ad and scale on bonus ad to compensate for lack of crit.

meaning just like ap mages adc or "marksmen" would end up with a regular ad of 500-700 ad end game instead of the 300 on average they get with crit.

where would you like to go? 500 ad on marksmen or crit?

You can easily make a trade off between extra dmg/tankiness/utility and the off chance of a lucky crit in every 100 autos. It's one more choice Riot allows the players to make. It's not mandatory and, most of the time, you're better off with 3 extra AD.

apparently with adc's building armor pen. not really here is the thing there are always 1 adc on each team. and they usually build crit. so you can't say these champions need to function. unless we have a long period of time where ranged marskman aren't mandatory and how they interact with other champions and how well they do. its all speculation

but considering adc marskman are the only mandatory class imma go ahead and say crit needs to be removed because its makes them too essential.

crit is RNG. and not a good system. there is no skill in rng. there is no descinion making its just things happening

Pika Fox1 votes

They need crit to function. Youmuus > Cleaver is a mid game spike that sacrifices mid-late - late game power, and you need to rush AS/Crit immediately after because your damage will fall off, and fast.

How else do you get 1% crit?

Secret skill only few know about.

Zane Zephyr2 votes

That happened to me before with tryndamere. it was a mirror lane and he got a crit on me early on and won the entire lane. it was fucking awful

Lùmen1 votes

the champ gets plenty of crit chance from his passive so 1% doesn't really count

DeathBurst1 votes

Trynda gets up to 35% Crit chance level 1 just with his passive, so it's not exactly a lucky crit with a 1% chance of happening...

MunchCrunchLunch2 votes

because riot likes adc marskmen and want ad carries to be in the spot light in BIGPLAYSLCSBIGPLAYS.

no seriously. someone told me. that crit was introduced a little during beta. not from the beginning. and then dodge was introduced because it was too strong for someone to get crit and dps down people. then dodge was removed. and what do you know. there is an adc in every single game.

Pika Fox2 votes

ADCs exist because towers are tanky and death timers are short. Even if you removed crit, ADCs will always exist. Even if you removed all ADC champs youd end up with full AD Ahri and the like because, again, towers are tanky and death timers are short.

crit isn't really random

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

{quoted}

crit isn't really random

yeah crit chance is not random at all. no rng whatsoever

CerealBoxOfDoom4 votes

essentially.

for example if it ran off an rng system then a champ with 100AD and 50% crit chance would potentially deal 200 damage on average or 100 damage on average

but in league I can guarantee you, assuming that the system still works the same way, that you will most average to about 150 damage assuming you attack an even number of times.

League of legends uses what you might call "rigged RNG"

Spoofghoul1 votes

this pretty much every point of crit & icreased crit damage is essentially a 1% increase in dps

same goes for attackspeed & ad

in addition to this they are allowed armorpen and % hp to make a similar interaction for effective health impossible

hence why tanks blow up lategame

DeathBurst1 votes

The beginning of your comment is wrong....

Even with "real" RNG, if you have 100 AD and 50% Crit chance, you deal 150 damage on average. The problem is that the variance is too big, you can have "lucky streaks", where you have 3 Crits in a row, but on average you have just as many un-lucky streaks, and you still deal 150 damage on average.

LoL is rigged, so that Crit are more evenly spaced and you don't have long streaks, but it doesn't change the average

LadyRenly1 votes

runes are the problem, not crit

Crit? You mean luck right? Because that's what critical below 100% is. Luck.

*edit. They should change the critical symbol to a horseshoe. Then make it golden when you have 100% critical. Then when you have it 100% the golden horseshoe should show up every time you get a kill on the kill feed. Then if you buy enough critical to get to 125% critical your champion should start to whiny like a horse and do a global galloping sound and be able to have a conversation with hecarim about finding his missing shoe and how you think it was cursed.

A Basic Island1 votes

because crit runes are expensive and refunding everyone like 20k worth of runes is like LOL RIP BANKRUPT RITO

at least in their heads

Oleandervine1 votes

Crit exists so that you still have a chance to deal considerable threat when you're under budget. It prevents champions from utterly destroying you and removing all fighting chances just because they've earned more gold.

Pika Fox1 votes

Dodge runes were removed because it was a random chance for the enemy to miss completely on their auto attacks. Crit runes are fine because the person will always get their baseline damage out. Sure, it feels bad to be crit at level 1, but multiple points;

  1. The enemy ADC has no real damage threat at this level, having the literal lowest AD they will have in the game

  2. The enemy ADC is losing consistent damage just to have that 1/100 chance at a crit, further reduced by attacking minions more than you by taking an rng rune over arpen,as or ad.

KoggyStyle1 votes

3 quint ad 9 red ad 8 yllw armor 1 yllw ad 6 blue flat mr 3 blue crit = 16 ad 1% crit 8 armor 8 mr.[slayer-jinx-wink]

Pika Fox1 votes

And? Youre still missing out on stats that would be better for you probably 299/300 times you auto attack the enemy or get engaged on, ESPECIALLY since AS is king after BF sword, which means you will invest in crit early on most ADCs anyway, making the 1% obsolete nearly out of the gate.

Hyperiön1 votes

I run 1% crit rune on all ad champs. Gives a boost once every 100 auto attacks hahaha.
