No free win. Bug in promo helper ? Can someone explain this.

As far as I know, when you hit a promotion series for a division, you get a free win whenever you reach that same promos again. I hit promos for Silver 2 twice this season and failed both times. I fell back to Silver 4 and after a couple weeks, I just hit Silver 2 promos again. However, I got no free win. Is this a bug ? Or am I misunderstanding how promo helper work.

You demoted out of silver 3 so it resets your promo to get out of it

Ah....but I remember always getting the free win no matter how many times I demote when I was climbing through Bronze. Many times I reached B1 and fell back to B4 and when I get back to B1 again, I always had the free win.
