Potential Mage Bottom Lane- Twisted Fate

Wouldn't he be a decent fit? He can carry out some decent sustained damage with his E and his W damages towers for the objective pressure. Would it work?

ADC Twisted Fate isn't unheard of, like, building actual ADC items. But it pales in comparison to Burst Mage TF.

He's not as good bot because he can't take full advantage of his ultimate. A mid TF can ult to either bot or top, or anywhere in either jungle. A bot TF has half the options.

That is true enough. His ultimate is basically why you pick him.

Kind of, but it's weak early. You need ragebalde and nashors to deal competitive AA damage.

The sustained damage on E isn't that great. If you're building him AP/AS (like Nashor's/Rageblade), then you're basically an ADC that trades damage, range, and/or safety for having a point-and-click stun. It's nice, but it's not terribly popular for the same reason AD TF isn't- the E steroid isn't great, your ult isn't as useful bot lane (as Crewx said), and you have minimal peel (one single target stun that you might have to wait a second to use) to compensate for your lower damage output.

For AP TF... a quick comparison versus Ziggs (since many people are thinking about mage bot laners due to Ziggs).

  • Q - TF's does 15 less base damage, costs 10-30 / 20%-40% more mana per cast, travels 60% as fast (to the first bounce on Ziggs Q), has a 0-2 second longer base cooldown, and has the same AP scaling. The shape is harder to quantify. TF can hit all 6 lane minions with one Q if he's able to line up correctly as the wave hits, but he can't as easily kill groups of far away minions.
  • TF's max mana at level 1 is about 70% of Ziggs's, and it goes up at about 80% as quickly per level. Mana regen is the same.
  • TF has to choose between using his W for mana regen (where he gains a net of 10 per cast until he's level 8), using it for additional wave clear, or keeping it available for peel/engage. Ziggs has his peel/engage and additional pushing on separate skills.

Individually the stats aren't that much worse. But they add up to TF's wave clearing power being generally a lot weaker than Ziggs's. TF does less damage for more mana out of a smaller mana pool. Of course, TF has his own strengths. But a lot of his power is tied up in the pressure his ult creates. A bot TF has half the ult use options (as Crewx said), and he's also going to be underleveled compared to his mid version.
