How do I properly approach this?

Try to hit people with your slow wall then pepper them with Qs while they are slowed, hopefully whille they are also in your AoE.

You can use R to farm assists and sometimes kills in other lanes, but make sure you are either dead or away from your opponents so you can't be interrupted when you cast it. eyes on the map, pull the trigger when a gank is about to happen.

If you are going to die make sure to die in the middle of the enemy team or die in a choke point. know when you cannot escape and start laying down the hurt.

A good karthus score has high numbers in all categories.

item 3070 is very good on karthus because he can stack it fast.

I am not sure about new item 3027 though, because not it is about getting hit to get advantages perhaps item 3030 is good? I haven't played him since the mage rework (on the rare occasions I get mid its, Swain for me)

item 3157 is still a great item. item 3116 gives slows although Karthus is AoE so it isn't at max effiency but Karthus likes slows. item 3285 Karthus will charge it up fast and it gives movement speed but I feel like he already does a ton of AoE and doesn't need it. item 3089 You should seek to pick one of these up, especially if the opponents are squishy or you are dying heaps, maximize your ultimate damage.

Well you try to time Q to kill minions to get mana back from his E passive and only use E when you are going in. If you are still having mana trouble then item 3092 is not the worst item since it will slow people so you can trap them in your E AoE.
