Runes reforged was the beginning of the end (opinion)
Change my mind.
Change my mind.
Make a real discussion
If you’re opening yourself up to counterarguments, you might want to actually go into why you have the position you have instead of just saying “change my mind”.
There were so many threads about runes reforged screwed up the balance of the game. I don't see a point of him repeating those statements, cause everyone should know them by now.. Right?
The thread is kinda low effort tho.
My memory is vague but...
Removing Morello from his game balance position was the beginning of a downfall. He, even if we hated him for that, was fighting off the powercreep the hard & cruel way by nerfing champions.
That was the first step down the slope.
its not though they can always change the runes as they wish. IF A doesnt work im pretty sure they have a plan B set up.
Why would I change your mind? Its right
Given they were a MASSIVE upgrade to what we had prior, theyre moreso the beginning of the beginning.
Agreed. The game is too volatile at the moment in great part due to runes reforged.
Keystones in general already caused balance to be quite a bit more unstable, an instability that was only barely addressed prior to runes reforged ripping balance to bits again.
There was a time that most (or at least a lot more) lanes went even. Where an unfavorable matchup could be mitigated by stacking a cowardly number of defenses onto your runepage and clinging to your tower for dear life. You definitely weren't going to dominate that lane, but at least you didn't have to hemhorrage deaths.
People learned to play champions, not abuse rune synergies.
A fight between an ADC and a toplaner lasted 10 seconds, not 0.25.
You had more than one chance in a given lane to exhibit skill or make mistakes, as did your opponent. Consequently, even losing games felt hopeful.
There is only so much that may be learned from a perpetually gray screen, or from being 23 kills up.
Eh, they can always be reworked, already better than what they were in S8. It is still a downgrade of the old rune and mastery system. (needs more powering down)
Both Pre-season 5 and Patch 5.22 were much worse than Runes Reforged though.
oh yeah dude grinding for stat buffs and rune pages was so much fun i totally miss when balance changes meant i had to switch from ad to armor pen marks and had to dump an entire month's worth of IP into my pages, or if I wanted to add a new champion to my pool then I would need a new page worth a full priced 6300 champion. nothing says fun competitive pvp like people spending money on an ip boost to afford a larger raw stat bonus to make me auto-win trades.
If you hate Runes Reforged you probably should've hated keystone masteries which have been around since S7 (Maybe S6?). Half the keystone runes in runes reforged are literally just buffed ports of them.
Tbh Riot should've left the old masteries untouched and just got rid of the old runes and compensated champions base stats. Imo Runes Reforged pumped a lot more damage into the game compared to season 7. I felt like they were balanced out by the time Riot got rid of them.
The end of champion uniqueness, sure.
You know the real reason the Irelia, Akali, Aatrox reworks had to be heavily watered down/reverted in some fashion? Runes Reforged scaled so hard on them that it made them downright oppressive at every stage of the game. RR amplified everyone's strengths so much that it straight-up gave them no weakness. Conqueror is the poster child for this, as was pre-nerf Klepto.
the beginning of the end of anything is when it start.

Runes reforged was a way to bring in more micro-transactions, and distort currency, so all the attention would be elsewhere.
It worked like a charm
Well 2018 worlds was the most viewed esport in history. It never ended....
Why should anyone care to change your mind about something that is objectively and provably false? Perhaps just iterating why you dont like runes reforged would be a more rational discussion. Perhaps enlighten us on some of the reasons you dont like it?
No, that's too late.
Juggernauts patch was the beginning of the end imho.
I'm of the opinion that runes should have just been made free there didn't need to be a new system.
