Urgot's W Shield needs to scale off HP and AD

5050BS··5 votes·3,711 views

He cant do what he needs to the way it is. To have a shield that help him survive being slowed -125 movement speed he has to build all Tank and that means he does no damage. If the shield scaled off AD (like a lot of other champs) then be can build AD and his shield will let him have more survivability while being able to do damage.

The other option is to change it to flat Damage Reduction based on W Rank.

Also his Ult needs to not be cleanseable

so you want no counter play to his ult?

The whole point of his ult is... You f*cked up, now you die.

You have to fall below a very low amount of hp for the execute to happen.

well that is with all ults that are executions

That's what really ticks me off. Urgot's ultimate is the LEAST rewarding execute in the game with the MOST rewarding ANIMATION, and because of that, people mistake urgot for having a satisfying ult whenever they do happen to get it off.

yes and no.

urgots execute cant be stopped by heals or shields (only specific invulnerability abilities can prevent death), has massive range, a large slow, and a huge part of it is the aoe fear, which can really have a lot of impact with other opponents around.

so while it has the downside of being a skillshot, it also has a couple of up sides for it that other executes dont have.

overall it does feel a lot harder to get to the execute condition, but getting the execute itself is extremely rewarding.

Yes and no. Skillshot to land it, but so long as they are in range when they go below threshold, he can instakill them. Which, let's be real, ends up being like 400 dmg, so not as outlandish as some ults, but it does get to be unavoidable to compensate.

Can you cleanse Pyke ult.

Nope, you can't cleanse any ult that kill you example Darius Chogath Pyke etc the only one you able to cleanse it urgot one cause it consider as cc before killing enemy.

Urgot counterplay coinsist that it's a skillshot (which can be dodje or blocked). Being countered by cleans after doing his R sound a bit unfair. Urgot has to: -Hit R. -Lower the enemy hp bar to less than 25% (point 1 and 2 can be swapped) -Survive after pressed R (He can still be killed by summoner 14 ,Dot Effect,Minion,Enemy) I think as a single target spell making it unaffect by clean sound fair. Urgot ult it's a really weak version of pyke ult and a ranged version (with a skillshot) of garen ult. Considering that almost all the true damage execution are unaffected by clean (Garen Darius Pyke Chogath ) i think it's fair to give to urgot that thing too. Also it would be really situational. Alistar Olaf Gangplank summoner 1 item 3140 they are some case of clean. Some of them seem unfair (Gangplank with his lower CD cleans) and (item 3140 Which negate his late game potential must because it can be builded by everyone).

yet garens ult isnt only true damage if you are the villain, other wise its magic damage which can be blocked by null orb, hex drinker or reduce by any MR

Urgot doesn't even need AD to be a relevant damage threat lol. BC is more than enough in its own.

Let his ult deal pure damage so it can ignore Tryndamere's ult and revive effects. It's an ultimate. It should have the finality of an ultimate.

actually thats false. a tanky build works better on him since his leg procs give him high base damage.

His leg procs don't give him high base damage, it only makes him kind of useful against tanks and bruisers. It has a 100% total ad ratio IIRC when it scales to its max along with an 8% max hp physical damage; Urgot is encouraged to get at least two damage items. Tanky builds find themselves quickly outsustained in most scenarios. It's not like darius or garen where they have armor penetration to deal with tankier threats and very high base damages to deal with squishy threats.

Urgot pretty much sucks fucking balls against most squishy targets when he doesnt have cleaver + some other AD item.

Moody P1 votes

its 200% on leg proc (because its also an auto attack) and 8% max HP

that's good base damage considering you can proc it multiple times in a fight + W + Q. even a full tank Urgot has little trouble killing a squishy he can get to

Fail, it's not 200% AD ratio when using W because W murders your auto damage in favor of auto speed.

when i said tanky, i kindof meant juggernaut builds and not full tank builds.

like item 3071 item 3022 into pretty much full defensive itemization.

garen and darius cant get away with actual tank builds either. they tend to build the same with 1 or 2 offensive items at the least, and then into defense.

if they want to buff urgots defense, they could give him some bonus resistances for hitting his e. this would increase his scaling with health, and reward successful aggressive plays witha bit more burst resistance.

buffing his shield migh be a bad idea. urgot could develop the same issues as Ornn when he was strong. the dude was impossible to take trades with, since all he had to do was press w and auto attack you once to win a trade.

in ugots case it could even be worse, since he has some range. it could reward a playstile where he just sits back in lane and constantly pokes his opponent and just presses w and walks awyay any time his opponent makes a play. to a degree, thats already how he operates.

putting bonus resistances on his e would give him additional defense exactly in the situations where he needs them. like successfully hitting it in lane, or when he goes in on the enemy in a teamfight.

Honestly I never saw Urgot's weakness as his lack of tankiness.

Urgot's main weakness is that riot, in being scared of making a nasus-style juggernaut or something, designed his kit with so much counterplay that HIS ABILITIES LITERALLY PUNISH HIM FOR SO MUCH AS ACTIVATING THEM.

It'd be like decimate slowing darius down by 125 ms during the channel, or additional bleed stacks doing less and less damage; it's absurd.

Of course there's the argument that urgot has more range than the typical juggernaut, but I don't buy it. His autos don't have nearly enough range to allow him to auto melees with impunity or compete with actual ranged champions.

He got omega-cucked out of steraks when it got changed to melee only and he never got properly buffed since then.

No way for the ult thing. It’s already not dodgeable without either faker reaction speed (which none of us have) or the prediction skills of god (which none of us have). His ult may as well read “if the enemy falls below 30% hp, collect 300 gold”

In what fucking world is Urgot really strong?

His kit suffers from having TOO much counterplay for how relatively low his numbers are.

Half of his kit is designed to fuck him over.

Your ult pushes people out and gives them the opportunity to cleanse it AND be a mile away from you safe and sound.

Your passive actively punishes you for landing it consecutively.

Your W murders your already slow ass MS.

Urgot isn't anywhere near meta viability, nevermind strong.

Laceration2 votes

Hashinshin himself says urgot is fine. I don't think you understand the design behind urgot thats all. Juggernauts in general are slow moving big hitters. They are suppose to be easy to kite but deadly if you are stuck near them. Urgot isn't meta probably because he's pretty balanced, meta is usually people abusing overpowered things. I'm not against QoL buffs to him tho, everychamp should feel good am i'm with you on that.

Talking about champs that have too much counterplay: Zed in high elo xD

You can apply the same logic to Garen and yet he was nerfed this patch. There is a clear dividing line between Urgot and all of the other juggernauts. Yes, Juggernauts are slow, but Urgot is slow when compared to OTHER juggernauts. On top of that, he's ranged. This is death sentence, as it removes Titanic Hydra as an option from his shopping list, and makes Frozen Mallet, one of his only saving grace items, marginally weaker than should be appropriate for a champion of his speed.

Urgot mains can make the champion work. Any main of a champion can make that champ work. I mained Sion when he was considered garbage and made him work. But that doesn't mean Urgot is "fine".

There are a bunch of ways to make Urgot 'work', the problem isn't with all of these tanks, it's with the burst damage everyone else can put out and still be super mobile before you can build any tank or sacrifice damage for tank early and STILL get shredded by lethality or AP.

Generally good Urgot build is the recommended, but having played Urgot successfully on (rare) occassion, the best builds I've found so far are adaptive: item 1055 item 3672 to start normally (item 1054 vs marksman top), item 3010 item 3027 (for HP and AP), item 3153 for Life steal and Attack speed, item 3508 (for dmg, mana regen, CDR), item 3065 (MR and life steal boost, plus HP), item 3091 (AS, MR, steal MR for more AP based build) - etc. Pick and choose based on what you WILL need (not need NOW - big difference).

You conflate "Easy to kite" with how Urgot's W cripples him against a half-brained opponent.

There isn't a SINGLE other juggernaut that actively slows themselves down for numerous seconds to access their damage.

The only other juggernaut who has diminishing returns on landing multiple success cases is illaoi, who has diminishing returns on tentacle damage after the first tentacle, and... wait a minute, she's also fucking trash. LOL

But juggernauts stack both, otherwise they’d be either tanks with little CC or fighters with little mobility. Both are obviously suboptimal.

at the moment though, urgot is doing well in solo que. he shouldnt be buffed at this point.

but if hed receive a buff, id put a few seconds bonus armor/mr on his e, when he hits an enemy champion.

since were talking about it. wouldnt it make sense to run aftershock on urgot to give him exactly this effect? hed gain a burst of defense that helps him on engages into enemies during teamfights.

so he doesnt just get shredded by the enemy backline, while he deals with the enemy frontline.

it should also be really strong during lane trades. i play urgot often enough to consider him part of my roster, but i wouldnt say i really main him, so maybe you guys know better.
