Double Targons on Bot Possibly sleeper OP?

In one of my ranked yesterday I had some really weird lane.

First of all I was lastpick on my team the enemy had locked in an AD top, AD mid, AD jungle and ADC already. My role was botlane, with a Blitzcrank who was going to support me. However, we already had an ADC on our team, on toplane to be exact, while both our mid and our jungle were damage focussed champs.

So I had this weird idea and just picked Taric on bot, as he is quite strong against a team so heavily reliant on physical damage.

So the enemy lane was Jhin and Morgana (who played really well I have to add here), going up against out FABULOUS MACHINERY that would just sustain through everything with the Targon heals and the armor aura.

But that was not the completly obscene part. The CC lock while strong was not the unfair thing here either.

It was the fact that at 20 minutes we together had generated 2000 gold out of thin air with the support items. A Targon charge pretty much doubles a creep, splitting it to the item holder and a nearby ally. But with two tier 2 items we just doubled entire waves. Blitz and me were pretty much drowning on cash, allowing him ro rush a Archangel Staff and some decent AP and me to get enough armor to make my team almost invulnerable to their damage.

Has anyone else experience with that tactic of running a double melee botlane?
