Support Item Gold Comparison

So I'm going to be doing this based on three minion waves, or roughly 2:00 in gameplay time (Minions spawn every 30 sec, takes about as long to reach lane) since a cannon minion will pop out every third.

Tier One: Ancient Coin: 76g (24 for first and second wave, 28 for third) Relic Shield: 149g (24 passive gold, 5 charges total assuming 4 are the melee minions at 20g a pop and 1 is cannon at 45) Spellthief's Edge: 120g (24 passive, 24 per 30 sec if you hit all three charges)

Tier Two: Nomad's Medallion: 114g (36 for first and second wave, 42 for third) Targon's Brace: 189g (24 passive, 7 total charges assuming 6 are melee minions at 20g and 1 is cannon at 45) Frostfang: 204g (24 passive, 45 per 30 sec if you hit all three charges)

Tier Three: Talisman of Ascension: 114g (36 for first and second wave, 42 for third) Targon's Brace: 206g (24 passive, 8 total charges assuming 1 caster at 16-18, 6 melee at 20, and 1 cannon at 45) Frost Queen's Claim: 204g (24 passive, 45 per 30 sec if you hit all three charges)

interesting. but in a real game some things could happen that prevent you from popping relic or procing STE. But good info, thank you.

If you have the relic shield line you're going to be able to get those stacks off MOST of the time, but definitely not all of it. So maybe shove off like 20-40 of the gold per 2 min depending on the situation, and late game especially.

You really just need simple poke for spellthief's line. Not a lot of work required to get that extra gold.

I want the murksphere to get into the game. It was a black market brawlers item. Currently, tanks get targons brace. Enchanters get spellthiefs And passive supports get coin. It should be that peel supports use coin And adding murksphere would give defensive supports an item. You think soraka wants a coin?

One big flaw of this:

For the Relic Shield line, you're assuming procs from the amount of charges when buying the item. However, to not skew the numbers heavily towards Relic, you should only use the number of charges generated in your 2 min time frame - as you do for Spellthief's.

With that, you'd have for gold:

Relic: 89 gold (60 s/charge, 24 passive, 20 melee, 45 cannon) Targon's and Face of the Mountain: 129 gold (30 s/charge, 24 passive, 3x20 melee, 45 cannon)

Also, keep in mind that the value of minions increases throughout the game.

I did account for minion value increasing but it's truthfully not THAT huge (saw caster minions jump from like 16-18 during the map I tested this with) but you made a good point for the relic shield line.

Regardless, the numbers for it aren't particularly skewed in its favor, as it still has a huge drop-off after the two minute mark. The spellthief line is much more consistent, however, as it gets the same amount of charges per 30 sec as it started with, whereas Relic's line doesn't. If that makes sense.

Still, this was based more around optimum gold income scenarios.

Nomad's should really have the lowest, since you literally don't have to work for it. Things seem fairly balanced in ideal scenarios IMO.

I still think it's a bit of a nuisance if even T2/3 coin upgrades give potentially much less than shield or edge. But yeah, you don't have to do much besides be in range so it isn't a balance issue.

This is mostly just so people can compare going in.
