Supports, Don't Give Up!! (Mastery 7 Topic)

Took me ages to obtain, but I finally reached Mastery 7 with Leona .... a Support tank that's meant to die often for her teammates. If I was able to get it on a champion such as her, you guys can do it too! I'll be rooting for you guys to get it, even though the grading system is balls for Supports.

If you want helpful tips on how to get an S rank ... here's how.

  • Buy pinks often. Even if you already have one up, place another one down ... it counts.
  • Destroying wards helps towards an S, maybe as much as warding yourself.
  • Sadly you have to KS your team .. despite Supports aren't meant to. Only KS after 30 minutes in.
  • 60-70% kill participation. Number of assists help, but how often you're helping is the key here.
  • Participate in Dragon / Baron kills. They count too.
  • Try not to die. Yeah, it's stupid since you're a Support that's meant to be selfless, but ... yea.
  • Even if you're losing or going to lose, you can still earn an S!

That's basically what it comes down to. The system grades you based on how well you perform and compares it to the average player who uses said champion. For example, Leona players have an average of 2.0 / 6.2 / 14.1 ... meaning for your S, you'll need 4+ kills, less than 3 deaths, and above 30+ assists. Granted I was able to get an S with Leona going 5 / 1 / 9 because I participated in 80% of the kills, did all objectives with my friends, and got a lot of kills (a triple kill in one go). You guys can do it, I believe in you! If you want help ... do let me know, and I can provide you with more information if needed be :)

I'm already in position to get Mastery 6 or 7 for multiple supports; I just need blue essence. My current goal is to get to Mastery 5 with every champion in the game, and I've already done that with most of the supports. That isn't the problem.

The problem for me right now is needing to be the carry as the support every single game, doing literally everything every single game, trying to do anything to get the rest of the team to stave off suicide for one more microsecond every single game, and being the absolute, one and only, all or nothing linchpin to the entire team's success or failure every. SINGLE. FUCKING. GAME.

I've been a support main for three years, and it's harder now than it ever has been because most of the community has simply given up on life.

start runic shield and build greaves into frozen mallet followed by triforce, with a sightstone somewhere in there

Oh look a mastery 7 Yasuo player, haven't seen like 30 of those in game already.

I mean congrats but you picked a champion that a lot of people "main" and have mastery 7 on.

It is rare when I don't get a S on Thresh. Just ward a lot, get pinks, have high participation in kills/dragons and prioritize not dying.

Pretty much, though for champions like Nami ... you can do all that and have a perfect KDA like I did with 3 / 0 / 28 and only get an S- which is balls. Her average KDA is higher than most Supports so it's hard to get an S for her unless you get some kills. Even going 0 / 1 / 43 like I did still got me an S- lmao. Oh boy...

Still, congrats mate! Glad another tanky Support was able to get to Mastery 7 :D

Getting an S on Nami is like getting an S on Bard.

I've gone 4/2/23 and got a S

Went 3/1/27 and got an S-

It's irritating more than anything. :<

can't have taken THAT long. getting straight S on supps isn't hard. i have no idea why people think it was. you don't even need to buy pinks if you're doing good. i bought pinks like twice in 10 games.

That is a very bad way of doing things. You should always try to get a pink, even if it is to ward the tribush,

Supports get less gold than any other role, can't farm minions because ADC's need it, and KSing is frowned upon by other members. We die to help our teammates win games, but dying also puts down your grade by a lot. Support role is not the easiest whatsoever, but to be fair I think Junglers have the hardest time getting an S rank. Supports are 2nd hardest in my opinion.

there's an easy way to get an S grade on leona... play her in the jungle! (seriously i feel like she's a much better jungler than she ever was a support... as an item dependant tank with a kit that' sgreat for setting up early ganks)

alistar->because riot won't ever allow it to be viable again due to his ult blitz probably because of his high mana costs on a mostly single target kit making it difficult for him to clear early, though i have seen people jungle him very effectively

but this has nothing to do with leona, really her first clear is a bit rough, but after that she is rather decent at clearing

0 / 1 / 43 as Nami and I only got an S- sir. You get graded much higher if you get kills as a Support (I remember someone saying getting a kill as Support is like getting 4+ assists per time). I don't want to KS, but it's what I have to do sometimes since games now a days don't last longer than 20-30 min.

I don't think not getting kills screwed you over. Even then, I'd doubt getting more than 0 kills would be kill stealing. And still doesn't change the fact that Support is easy.

You're thinking too much. Its a lot easier than that. Source: almost 800k Raka and got my requirements for mastery 7 within 2 days of the new system.

Step 1: Be a part of 80% of the kills Step 2: Don't die Step 3: Mastery 7

No pink wards purchased Very little damage done Non-standard build Virtually no wards killed (no red sweeper and no pinks purchased)

Now I know this is a passive backline support so its a lot easier to not die. I have a global so assists are easy. But I was also going against the average Soraka, so my recommendation for any support is to try your best at being a part of kills and to try your best to not die. But that's literally it. I did far less damage than the average Soraka because I only put 1 point into Q at level 2 and don't use it for harassing. I think a lot of players are overthinking how to get S as a support.
