Every time a solution to how shitty AP utility supports itemization is comes up...

It's always shot down because "another champion(s) in a solo lane will buy this item and ruin it"

Utility supports need high amounts of AP to make their utility decent But every utility support item available for them comes with hardly any AP Because if they did have high amounts of AP, a midlaner or two are going to abuse it But we can't adjust the utility ratios on AP supports to have much higher ratios to compensate them having 250 max AP in a 50 minute game Because all these supports would just build regular AP items and have insane utility power along with damage and become stupidly overpowered

There is so many problems with utility ratios that I don't believe they can ever be fixed, get high AP support items, they get abused...buff support utility ratio buffs, those supports are abused

So Can We Just Please REMOVE UTILITY RATIOS

Seriously, every support who got touched by scaling utility rework other then Janna got screwed over hard and never recovered, before utility ratios were a thing they were played regularly, but now they are useless, because who really wants a squishier, more team reliant and less effective champion on your team when you can just pick an intended AP mid to support you like Annie/Brand or Velkoz and just shit all over Lulu/Sona and Karma at their own jobs because they don't come with a 200 AP requirement to have their utility scale to were it used to be

Add a new stat

Utility Power: Enhances the utility part of spells like movement speed, shield and heal at a higher rate than regular flat AP would.

Mostly supports will have these scalings, but some utility mid laners might have these, that way you can have stronger items for support, but less obnoxious damage and item abused by other lanes.

Add utility ratios to

item 3092 item 3401 item 3069 item 3222 item 3504 item 3060 item 3050 item 3190 item 3023

Add 10 AP to Ardent Censer? I doubt mid laners would buy a 50 AP utility item, but it's be a small buff for certain supports, at least.

Ardent Censor honestly could be an 80 AP item (adjust the price a little like say 2500), and I doubt most mids would take it over Morello or any other decent AP item. The utility on it requires the ability to heal or shield another player, which I think only applies to Lux and Nidalee. (Galio?) That's such a small group that I'd hardly consider that breaking the game.

Frost Queen's Claim isn't cost effective to upgrade, even for a support. 10 AP and a situational active for 515 Gold. It could easily be a 60 AP item.

Mikael's Crucible has no AP at all. It could have a meager 40 AP and still never be used by a mid laner.

Honestly, I was thrilled when they said supports were going to have ratios on their utility spells - less so when they told us it was going to be AP. Imo they didn't commit to their idea hard enough: they should have made a stat for supportive ability only, call it utility power, support power, whatever you want, and made those abilities scale with that stat and that stat alone, whether it's on a dedicated support champion or not.

For instance, Nidalee's heal (HP given + MS buff) would scale off that new stat, so if she wants a strong heal, she needs to build UP/SP items and sacrifice damage or surviability in doing so.

If you look at Janna, you can either build AP and hit hard with Q and W (which might be given back decent damage and scaling if her E and R no longer scale with AP), or you can build the new stat and have a strong shield with a stronger AD steroid, as well as a stronger heal.

Taric's heal scales off his tankiness, which he has incentive to build - why can't, say, Nami's heal scale off supports' own stat instead of using AP which she doesn't really have incentive to build?

And so forth.

They got lazy with "utility scaling" I think because it would've required a bunch of new items (and possibly lots of item reworks).
