Why would I get someone autofilled to support when I am queuing as support fill?
Title, very curious here.

Logical bugs! They didn't optimize the system to do a second check after the party is created. Once it's made, it's made.
I mean, I've seen situations where a mid-main/top-second got top and top-main/mid-second got mid, and same with top/jun (that one I've seen several times).
I do love it that when I queue as pure fill, I get support 90% of the time, but that when I go sup/fill, I get mid close to 30% of the time.
"Hi I am a support main, do you want to switch?"
Can you blame us? The system has always basically worked giving you support 98% of the time even if it's secondary, you can't get enough games in other roles and largely are playing support in almost all your games if you queue for 2 roles only
I used to play a hell of a lot more midlane, I often preferred it but with support as my secondary but ever since position select I have just become a support main
God forgive us if we ever get autofilled top or ADC
I call BS. I get mid in 80% of my games when I'm queuing for mid/support.
Do you not see the issue here? Autofill is supposed to be a bandit for not enough support players, but instead what the system is doing is that it shove support players to the wrong roles(when there is already a shortage of support player) while forcing non-support players to play support. This system is fucked up
"Hi I am a support main, do you want to switch?"
"No fk u we fkn lost fkn autofill"
"dodge"
"dodge"
don't forget "me troll"
Your fill made you open/available to more roles, while his two positions didn't.
pretty much this. a role was left open that you accepted as fill secondary. He didn't.
Fill is not the same as support, believe it or not.
but I literally got support first, an enemy dodged then our mid got shoved out of the lobby and I got filled to mid while someone got autofilled to support...
Then why would it autofill him (who expressed a desire for only two roles) instead of putting me into that role so he gets what he wants?
Because Rito likes fking with people.
Because Riot assumes that people who queue as "fill" occasionally want some variety in their assigned roles (most of them do).
I suspect there might also be some balancing decisions made based on how many auto-filled members are on each team. If the enemy has an autofilled player then they may make someone on your team autofilled even if it isn't necessary just to balance things out.
Of course nothing prevents you from offering to trade your role in pre-game chat.
Had a game where we had 3 players queuing for support role primary. I got my secondary mid, one got support and one got auto filled to top. I don't know how that works...

That sounds awefully close to my game on EUW. To speak not of my horrid attempt at playing top lane, The one who actually got support was a godaweful bronze 5 who couldn't do shit all game.
Well we actually won that lane because I got fed on mid and bot was doing decent. Our autofilled toplaner was nowhere to be seen which was understandable. But this speaks volumes of match quality. I would rather wait 10 minutes more for a good match then play matches like this.
Cos the system sucks.
You are autofill protected. They are not. If you want to get support more often, don't put in fill as your secondary.
I actually do not understand why Riot designs autofill protection this way. People with fill selected could theoretically protect others from being autofilled, at least while they have fill selected. Of course if I want to guarantee I get a certain slot on the team, it's nice to have that autofill protection, but I don't need that protection if I have selected fill, you know?

Because prior to this way of designing, we had "fill secondary? => support always". In order to encourage people to use "fill" you want to provide a situation where fill secondary does not equate support. Both in sense that secondary role has to be rare, but also in the sense that fill does not consistently result in support.
I've had this happen as well and was like WTF?
punishment
Because despite all the strawman arguments floating across these boards regarding autofill, it isn't working correctly.
Riot definitely has not coded it well - unless it's intentional to get the sane number of fills and secondaries on each team.
I've been auto filled bot more than support this season. That makes no sense. (I queue top/mid or mid/top).
If you queue support primary you should always get support unless there's actually a different bottleneck. Especially with support/fill. If you queued supp/adc and i queue top/mid i could understand if you get adc and i get autofills jg and someone else gets support from their secondary - trying to minimize the number of filled players (even though we end up with more secondaries).
I don't get this as well; I'm a support main, and I've actually gotten my secondary role to someone queuing as fill. Only for them to try to trade it back to me because they don't want support -_-.
The question is: which roles the autofilled guy queued up for?
They would probs be happy to trade u tho.
HAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry but I'm thinking about it and picturing that conversation in my head. Idek dude, autofill is meant to punish the community. Only real explanation.
