TL DL:
Lesser Elixir of Agility: Cost: free! Multiplies your crit chance by 1.5 and reducing its crit damage to 166.666% (from 200%).
**Elixir of Agility: **The 400gold elixir of agility will give you 8% crit chance along with the same specs as the lesser elixir of agility. Also gives bloodlust passive.
Here’s how it could work: At any point in the game you can drink a free lesser elixir of agility. This elixir will multiply your crit chance by 1.5. However reduces your crit’s damage by 33 percent, giving your crits 166.6666% dmg as opposed to 200%. Your overall damage stays the same. The formula still gives you the same amount of damage amplification.
crit formula for reference:
Damage multiplier = 1 + (Critical chance × (1 + Bonus critical damage))
Lets say I get 25% crit from
,
, and lets add say 5% from runes. thats 30% + the 400gold elixir (gives 8%) times 38% * 1.5 = 57% crit chance. Now thats a number i can work with.
This effectively reduces your crit damage but increases the frequency at which you can crit. There’s an optimal crit chance in this game. based on the duration of fight and windows during which you can auto attack champions during team fights. If you calculate on average you auto about 15 times in a battle. Only three auto attacks will crit and theres no way of knowing when you’ll need the crit either. Seeing so many get away with so little health because you couldn’t crit them. Squishy champ have kits that make them slippery and won’t let you hit them for long. 100% crit is nice but if you can auto them twice anyways you’ll get your moneys worth with 50% crit on average. if however you can’t auto them more than twice then just having say 20% crit chance doesn’t pay off even if your crits were to do more dmg.
The 400gold elixir of agility will give you 8% crit chance along with the 1.5 times your crit chance (essentially giving you 12% crit chance) and still give you just 166.666% crit dmg. It will also receive the bloodlust passive hence the reason why I chose elixir of wrath for the icon and made it green. Although any new vial artwork would do.
This game hasn't and doesn't need malus.
The old one was fine tho
elixir of agility was disgusltingly overpowered don't fucking add it back.
elixir of agility was disgusltingly overpowered don't fucking add it back.
for reasons that this elixir wouldn't touch upon. since it reduces your crit damage. keeping your overall dmg exactly same.
The old elixir gave 22% flat crit chance. Meaning you could just buy it with just 1 crit item back then. A
with only crit marks could have 30% crit chance without any crit item what so ever. And could stack
too lol.
The game has changed a lot since.
And ie gave 25% crit then too. this would only give you 8% flat. the rest you'd get from the crit multiplier so you'd have to invest in crit chance taking away from stacking more ad. While furthermore reducing your crit's damage by one third.
according to wikia.com:
It was removed because it primarily benefited AD carries that were already in the lead, making hyper carries even stronger, and pigeon-holing end-game AD builds to focus on critical strikes.[1]
This would not be for adcs. Adcs want more dmg. ADCs want the larger crits. They can only live so long. They need the opponent dead before they die. Since they are vulnerable. getting the ad elixir would benefit them more imo. it might buff their early game as per the reasons discussed above. in which case perhaps you could remove the free version of the elixir. or delay it until the 30 minute mark or so.
This would mainly help bruisers/fighters in fact. Without even making them "stronger" all it'll do is help flatten out their damage is all. In fact it will reduce the amount of unexpected crits or consequtive crits that are not indicative of their real dmg potential. essentially making things **more balanced. **
It also has a sort of built in bruiser aspect to it. since they won't be able to get the bonus ad from the elixir of wrath. so their crits will naturally reach lower values.
currently
can get
and get 25% crit chance plus
25 ad from elixir of wrath plus her ad marks . this gives her considerably more burst potential.
Whereas the elixir of agility would give her damage values that are more bearable/predictable. whats nice is you have the choice of getting either more frequency or more burst.
That would be insanely powerful on some champions. Tryndamere for example would get 55% crit chance from IE + Passive, with this making it 94.5% (with greater elixir). Since his E loses 1 second of cooldown per hit, more crits actually translates directly to even more damage and mobility for him even with reduced crit damage.
Also, the Tryndamere cheese going from 35% chance to crit to 52.5% can't be good for anyone except the Trynd player.

Agreed he would be, haven’t’ gotten around to this yet. But I’ll give it a go.
Easiest solution of course for now would be to put a disclaimer, either outright disable it for
&
, or disable the 1.5 multiplier and -33%crit dmg such that it will not work with tryndamere or yasuo.
Like currently
does not work with
’s passive or
’s w.
Imagine if they wanted to introduce an item like runan’s today, people would just say well “That would be insanely powerful on some champions”. But it works fine thanks to the condition on lucian and vayne. So long as said conditions aren’t too complicated and stand out as being for obvious reasons. Which I think the agility elixir would fit in that category when it comes to yasuo and trynd. With so many champions I think its natural to have a few minor conditions here and there. If you want to implement some unique features etc. As opposed to being confined to one recipe for all champions to abide by.
Perhaps
&
could still buy the elixir of agility just for the 8% crit and bloodlust. And maybe they alone could also get like 5 ad from it. Yasuo could finally get his 100% crit chance with stattik & IE, again without sacrificing too much ad from runes.
So in the case of
, the 1.5 multiplier passive would be be greyed out for them like mana items are to energy champions.
The way I see it, the new elixir could serve as a good stepping stone/way to transition if riot games ever plans on adopting a new crit mechanism, as is currently being explored with
with flat crit. And champions like
not needing crit at all.
is another item that would be somewhat of an issue. You could have it’s lightning damage scale off of + crit dmg% and bonus AD or unmodified/bare crit chance (prior to being multipled by 1.5) or something such that bruisers who do rely on the 1.5% multiplier won’t find it as cost effective an item to get. Since its not really meant for bruisers. If they want the take advantage of shiv they’d have to depart from their bruiser build and buy like IE or a lot of "bare" crit chance which wouldn't synergize as well with the 1.5 multiplier.
Aside from trynd yasuo the two that clearly stand out, any other problem champions you can think of? Or issues that might come up?
I really like the numbers too. It just so happens with 1crit mark
and the 400gold elixir you get 50% crit chance. Double what you'd have now. It would really help bruisers out a lot. Their damage would also be more bearable can't one shot someone as much with lucky crits. And it'll suit them since they are designed to survive a bit longer to get their medium DMG off over slightly longer window.
This could be a fun lucian build perhaps:
with just 2% from crit runes
and the 8% from the elixir, you'd get 20% crit time 1.5 = 30% exactly.
Would work nicely with his passive, while I did say that adcs wouldnt likely get this elixir since they want larger crits. If all you have is 10% crit chance being so unlikely in this instance when only equipping triforce this elixir could come in handy.
With a scimitar that builds out of brutalizer:
