Teemo Mushrooms- In the Worst State Ever in LoL History

Edit: People seem to be confused in that I am saying Teemo is UP. That is not what I am saying. I am saying that his ultimate is hardly worth the power of being an ultimate and is stupidly weak. TEEMO IS NOT WEAK, BUT HIS ULTIMATE IS PITIFUL!

So what are Teemo's shrooms? Thrown traps that arm and stealth after a delay to deal damage. They used to be an absolute terror to play against, but, currently, are one of the worst ultimates, if not the worst spell, in the game. Why?

Control Ward (Pink Ward Replacement) Disables Nearby Mushrooms Previously, Pink Wards would reveal but not disabled nearby mushrooms. With the change to Control Wards, all you have to do is drop a Control Ward and you have absolutely no worries of dying to a mushroom. Ever think it was dumb for Akali to be dumbstered by a Pink Ward? Well now to avoid Teemo shrooms in combat, all you have to do is drop a Control Ward and boom, Teemo doesn't have an ultimate.

Red Trinket Disables Them This was already in the game, but just wanted to remind you that these free items give you immunity to shrooms, especially Oracle's which moves with you and has an insane duration.

New Vision Plant Reveals Mushrooms in An Extremely Large Area Mushrooms can at least save you in the laning phase from ganks right? Nope. The new plant reveals mushrooms and their range and spawn locations allow them to scout out the lane entrances for mushrooms. All that work you did and mana expended is for nothing!

Damage and Duration Numbers Are at An All Time Low The AP ratio is 50% from 80% and the duration 5 minutes from 10 minutes. Just a reminder.

Riot, will shrooms see some love?

The Boards main issue: Hypocrisy. Complain about champion diversity, yet then call for a champion to be gutted just because you don't like them.

its not that i dont like teemo i dont like linear champions that are no fun to play against or play as. if they made teemo's kit more dynamic he would be more enjoyable to play as and against but as it stands teemo is linear and atleast where I am it means that feeds every game and I hate for him to be on my team so having him be gutted means I don't have to lose because of bad linear champions.

I mean, You still need to have a general idea where those mushrooms are going to be placed. Regardless of balance, Teemo's ability to create a mine field didn't really have a ton of counterplay to begin with.

They did give him a bit of a boost with the stealth rework. As he himself can't be spotted by control wards. So he has that going for him, and maybe this afford riot the opportunity to put power elsewhere in his kit.

The biggest problem with teemo isn't even his mushrooms. It's the fact that he trades overt power for guerrilla tactics. And while that might have a place in a team comp. It doesn't really give him a laning phase. That makes it difficult to play him top or mid, he doesn't have the range to carry, and he doesn't have the kiting mechanics to Jungle as a ranged glass cannon. Which would imply that the only place he could go is support, But he would lose a lot of his damage if he only had support level gold. Yet surprisingly enough, in game modes where laning phase isn't an issue, he works great.

Well honestly shrooms are one of the most toxic skills in the game, if they didnt slow, I wouldnt mind the damage even though they used to 1 shot squishies which is so stupid, thankfully lately teemos go full attack speed so shrooms do shit damage...

Half an ultimate? If you placed 78 shrooms at 1 spot so that 1 control ward can destroy your entire ulti then good job, you fucking failed. Yes this fucks teemo a lot, but seriously it can only be used near dragon/baron/turret and spoilers - you can actually kill the ward in 4 hits, shocking i know.

If a Control Ward was the only thing that did all this, then I would agree with you. But now there is a 4000 range cone that you don't even have to purchase that reveals every shroom in the 4000 range direction. 4000 range. Plus, you can purchase a Trinket that makes you immune to Teemo's ultimate for 10 seconds and tells you where they are. Now take that and apply it to anyone else's ultimate. Just make an item that almost completely nullifies their ultimate. How fair does that sound?

I didnt say he didnt get fucked really hard with the new patch, just that its not as extreme as you make it sound like. Yes there is too much that can reveal and disable shrooms but again, shrooms are everywhere on the map it will hardly ruin more than 50% of them, but yeah he will need to be immune to the disable thingy and the scrying cone is dumb af and they should remove vision of objects...

The only buffs I see are mana cost buffs to his Q and R, which were honestly overcosted previously. The ONLY positive change I have seen to Teemo that weren't fixing insane mana costs (125 mana per shroom was insane and his Q cost was 110 at max rank) was a slightly cool down buff to his R and the shroom throw mechanic. However, these were occompanied by the duration gutting, so it kind balanced itself out.

The changes to Teemo's kit itself balance them self out, but these changes OUTSIDE his kit are a nerf and there really haven't exactly been balanced out by other changes outside his kit. There hasn't been any items created that just added a ton of power to his kit.

Now allow me to restate my Edit in the OP. Teemo is not UP. However, it's REALLY bad design to have an ultimate in the state that his is in. Ultimates are supposed to define a champion. You should be able to look at an ultimate and think "That's what that champion does". If they don't have one, then their entire kit represents their theme/idea (Udyr, Rek'sai, Elise, etc.). Teemo's ultimate promotes a gameplay style of traps and invisible, guerrilla warfare. It's too bad every 5 patches now it seems a new way is added to nullify his ultimate.

Teemo was great simply because people were too damn lazy to buy pink wards back in the day. Same with Eve if you didn't pink she was going to scratch your insides out.
