Why it seems the jungler is always bot

Jungle main here. See a lot of people say it always seems like junglers and mids gank bot a lot and top laners only TP bot to gank. And it's true! Here's why:

  • There is a potential of 2 kills here
  • Our support normally has some sort of hard CC and a pink ward to set up the gank
  • It's a long lane so it's easier than mid
  • Free dragon after a successful gank bot
  • ADC is the best role to help me take dragon and freeing him/her up makes it super safe

So to all you bot laners who are always wondering why you got 4-man ganked 8 minutes into the game, it's because it make strategic sense to.

Tbh I tend to ignore top lane unless the enemy top laners is really begging for it if the first dragon is a good one. So when you see that infernal spawning first, be prepared for extra pressure on your lane.

I've started jungling recently (Support main here), and hate it when I gank for top. Kill their top laner, and ping Help me? on Rift Herald... and no one comes. That's why I started ignoring top. I'm ganking to help get free objectives for you to help you win your lane off of one gank. Why wouldn't you help!?

same goes for bot, adc for god knows why wants to freeze lane and wait for 3 cs after double kill instead of helping.jungler get dragon.

That is true, but dragon is easier to kill than RH already. Also typically the support is far more likely to help out which makes it so much easier too.

RH benefits one person, drag benefuts whole team, if top laner doesn't wanna help at herld then just dont vdgive it to them, but for the team you need to kill drag even when adc isn't helping.

The correct play is to push their lane super fast and then do Dragon. By not pushing their lane for them after the gank you force the ADC into the following early game choice: if the ADC helps you with Dragon, they can fall behind in farm, not have time to back before the enemy ADC returns, and Dragon does not provide much advantage in early game. if the ADC farms, he gets a larger lead on his lane opponent in exchange for not getting a Dragon buff that doesn't do much in the early game.

This is why when you gank get a double kill and go to Dragon without pushing the lane superfast, you are making a macro game mistake.

But it's only "3cs" you say? Wow, so you are saying that you couldn't spend 1 or 2 seconds clearing that 3 cs so that the lane pushes into enemy tower? Dude, it doesn't matter if they ping you away or complain in chat about stealing farm: take that cs out of the lane and only then go Dragon. You will find the ADC is much more likely to help you do Dragon if there is no farm in lane. To put this in perspective for you: Dragon gives 25 gold which is barely more than a single minion's worth of gold to only the player that deals the killing blow to it (probably you the jungler).

In general, junglers often don't understand the best macro play when lane minions are involved because they are used to the jungle camps staying put while they take objectives such as Dragon. Even though junglers aren't laning, they still need to know and understand lane mechanics.

Some ADCs will go for more tower damage. The tower is worth a lot more than Dragon, but tower is only the better play if it can actually be taken down before reinforcements (enemy ADC) return.

TL;DR: In most early game cases, the best macro play is to clear the ADC lane of enemy minions before doing Dragon. And yes: God does know.

Honestly rift herald isn't that great of an objective to be completely honest, especially when as a top laner you sacrifice 2-3 waves of farm to kill the thing to have your jungler take it from you half the time.

Maybe it's because I mostly play GP top, but even IF I got the buff, it's not worth the trade of the 38-144 gold I would have gotten off of Parrrley alone, add the gold from the minions themselves, and the possible tower gold on top of it. This doesn't even factor in the additional global gold to the rest of the team.

Effectively taking rift herald is delaying about 800 gold of income just for me that would get me closer to valuable item spikes for a buff that isn't very helpful and I may not get anyway.

I'll gladly take it if: Top & mid outer towers are both down, the wave is towards their tower, and there's no chance at it being contested due to top laner & jungler dead or top laner dead with jungler bot.

I personally think it's a trap buff and it's literally only good when there's nothing else to do and you're not strong enough to siege inner towers yet.

Not dissimilar from taking Baron or Elder Dragon, you have a pretty good chance of having the attempt turned on you and getting killed off due to the damage it does earlier on in the game, then losing the buff as well.

Hrm, I haven't had a chance to take it yet. I didn't know it took so long to kill it. A minute and a half (3 waves) sounds like an incredibly long time for that buff. I thought a 5% damage reduction would be pretty awesome.

The reduction is only when there are no allies nearby, and by the time you can take it quickly you should be grouping a lot of the time in most cases anyway so it becomes not very beneficial.

If you intend to be split pushing half the game, fine, but otherwise it's not going to do much for you.

Push wave into enemy turret, thereby denying them of cs and hypothetically netting me, the top laner, at least a 12 cs lead. Which is pretty nifty in top. Any leads usually snowball.

Bot lane doesn't have to worry about ganks from me Shyvana but I will solo dragon at 5 minutes.

Strange. For me I always end up camping top because it's an easy source of kills. IDK why but for some reason my bot lanes always push into infinity and never know how to cooperate with me when i'm ganking.
