The big issue with the Mage rework

Poke Mages simply have no items to build now outside item 3285. You gutted Mana Regen (which they needed to be relevant) and put 400 Mana in its place (hope you like wasting that in 15s of poke) on their best item item 3165 and then you turned their other Mana Regen item into a support item item 3174. With the new hextech items helping immobile initiate mages instead of immobile siege mages no items are really left behind. item 3070 is an option, but simply doesn't give them the CDR they need for mid game. CDR is instead put behind items they don't want to pick up because they're inefficient item 3165/item 3174/ for this champion pool. CDR is put on items such as item 3001 and item 3157, but for poke mages these items tend to come at about the 25+ minute mark. Since poke mages need to be at their strongest from 20-40 minutes they don't have the time to simply start building CDR at this stage of the game.

What's going to happen is poke mages will likely have to rush item 3070 and then follow that up item 3165 (Along with their 10% CDR in runes and 10% from blue which it seems you guys at Riot wanted to tone down.) They're paying 450 more gold for this build path from what they currently need (just item 3165) meaning they're getting stats they don't need and setting themselves behind in gold meaning they're worse off post update (especially with all of the immobile initiate mages that will likely become dominant mid due to these changes). Do you guys have any plans on how to save poke mages? Because right now it looks they're getting gutted.

tl;dr Post item rework poke mages are going to waste gold on stats they can't use, and will have their powerspikes pushed back while other mages have their powerspikes pushed forward.

yeah but with morellos and seraphs, at level 11 with 5200 gold, ziggs is going to have 255 ap with 2 items. and that's if you only run 15 ap and get a doran's ring to start. with a dcap and 9k gold, he's going to have 520 ap. not to mention the 2.2k mana pool you'll have at fully stacked seraphs. and this doesn't count anything you get from masteries amplifying your damage. also, tear cuts mana costs by 25%, and regen goes up the more mana you have.

Guys, don't tell Riot, but item 3098 still gives 100% mana regen. I'm sure that was an oversight though.

I agree, these class-wide nerfs are disheartening, they're hardly going to be able to stand up to the massive amount of assassins & carries bulldozing the game as is right now.

i know, bring back mana potions, in the form of a charge-potion system kinda like the items we have now, except it restores mana only, but a lot of it. it could even build into some cool item that provides some small stats along with the mana pots... just kinda throwing thoughts around, but I'd really like something like that. I feel that Riot's trying to stop the large amounts of mana regen from existing though, they want mage's to have more flat mana rather than mana regen, so i doubt something like this would ever come around.

You know I haven't read what you wrote down, but I still upvote you because atleast you show proof about what this might go into, rather than like the others who think Riot doesn't understand balance. I mean there over 100 champs, around 200 items and so many other things. Balance is not easy.
