I'm really annoyed how Ornn doesn't need to build any offense items to win trades

Most champs need to build at least one offense item to stay relevant, but all I ever see Ornns buy that features damage is Sunfire Cape. Can someone who knows him better than me explain how he gets to be this way?

Sure, Mastery 7 Ornn here, let me explain how overpowered Ornn is and how he wins all of those trades:

He isn't, and he doesn't.

Ornn is one of the slowest, most immobile, weakest champions in the game (speaking statistically, check his winrates on any site because he's constantly sitting at a horrible 45%.)

His Q is extremely telegraphed, his W has almost no range and only the final tick of it matters, his E is insanely telegraphed and slow to startup, and his ultimate, being the only redeemable part of his kit is completely countered by any form of dash.

You chose this champion to complain about? When things like Irelia, Akali, Yasuo, and Kassadin exist? Of all things, Ornn?

Why don't you play him and find out?

Ornn is one of those champs that when I play against one I get rekt. But when I try to play him, I may as well just walk into the wall all game. lol.

There are 2 usual ways to win trades:

  1. You either out-damage the opponent's damage output and win that way (how much you need to overshoot depends on the delta between your and their tankiness), or
  2. You out-sustain the opponent's overall survivability and win that way (similarly, how much you need to overshoot depends on the difference between how much sustained damage you and they can output).

For some reason, people seem to only think the first one is legitimate, this also includes Riot for some weird reason.

Well, there is a third one too, called "outsmarting and outmaneuvering the opponent and win that way", but I refuse to bring it up because everyone and their mother completely misunderstands what the term means, and how it's entirely situational/circumstantial and not to be taken as a usual way of winning a fight, and they just keep encouraging to push out champs that blatantly checks the opponent with how overloaded to the brim with utility and features they are, and call it fucking "outplay".

Ornn is a pure tank, and pure tanks don't build offensive items, don't need to. They have higher base damages, and lower scalings so there's no reason to buy any offensive items and you wont get much out of them if u do. Ornns combos can fk u up, but most champs can outplay them since their numbers were so heavily nerfed. Just keep in mind not to stand next to walls, or the pillar that pops up from his Q so he cant knock u up with his dash, and don't take to much damage from his W unless u have to to get cs, and if u do don't let him proc brittle on u on the trade. Could give u more detail on how to play the matchup if u say who ur playing, but ornn isn't really a hard counter to anything atm, so whatever ur playing u can beat him if u play it right.
