What's with that Assassin new item anyway?

We, assassins, were perfectly fine until the moment you decided to remove last whisper with this new shit called "be squishy or buy hp and deal less dmg or always buy grievous wounds for shitton of money" I just want my old last whisper back, make it "melee only", rename it, dub it "assassin item" and yay, you got our praise.

Because last whisper is an anti-tank items and assassins aren't supposed to be able to kill tanks.

Last whisper for assassins - it's not about killing tanks, if you know assassin's gameplay.

Amen lol.

Seriously new last whisper is just awful. Not even worth buying since I can just build straight damage to do my job then hope someone else can take out tankier targets with the river of crit options.

You aren't even the ones that suffered the last whisper nerfs the most.

Varus on the other hand...

Assassin's don't really need last whisperer, we get 15 arp from mastery, 10 from runes, 10 from maw, 20 from ghost blade, no squishy is going to have much more than 55 armor. especially not more that makes a % item worth it. You are there to kill carries who are generally squishy, not tanks.

you get 14 from masteries and 12 from 9 Armor Penetration Marks. Also, don't forget item 3071. It's a core item for most AD assasines/caster who used to buy Last Whisper. (Jayce Khazix Pantheon LeeSin Renekton Riven Talon Urgot Varus MonkeyKing Zed)

Most AD assassins players don't run armor pen runes. They prefer flat AD which I assume is due to more consistent farming since pen doesnt effect minions anymore. Used Champion.gg to look up most frequently used runes. The mastery doesn't give 15 at all ranks it scales up to that. By the time you get that 15 pen its probably pretty clear what side is going to win if the game even gets that far at all.

Any mage building zhonyas will have about 100 armor or more if they have base armor scaling which I believe most of them if not all of them do. If I just wanted a high amount of pen last whisper gave that to me for a relatively low cost. Buying Maw and ghost blade for 30 pen is a lot. Yes the other stats are nice but if I just want a large amount of raw penetration there isn't a good option for that anymore where mages still have void staff.

Maw/Ghostblade are almost always built on AD assassin's and 100 armor isn't really worth buying LW for anyways well sorry wouldn't be in this state of the game because everyone has between 30-50 armor pen, which is the same amount LW would have reduced most people by. As for most people not running armor pen, that might be true but last hitting isnt a problem for most AD assassin's and if they are struggling with armor its easy to just run armor pen runes. Tbh AD assassins are actually in a GREAT place right now. That's part of the reason zed and talon have become so much more popular, they hit ad carries for near true damage same with a lot of AP carries.

AD assassins are still go for arpen. The differents is now that they have to decide between a weaker early game versus a stronger midgame. The best example for this is Rengar
