This preseason has had the least positive impact on the game of the last couple preseasons.

Preseason 2015 ( patch 4.20):

Preseason 2016 (patch 5.22): -New Keystone masteries (6 keystones and a ton of masteries) -Marksmen update -Some new and updated Attack speed items, and essence reaver -New support items -New starting items http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-522-notes#patch-defensive-itemization

Preseason 2017 (patch 6.22): -Assassin update. -1 new assassin item, others modified. -control ward replaces pink(yawn). -3 plants. -new keystone. -2 new support items http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-622-notes#patch-assassin-itemization

All in all in my opinion this has been the least meaningful preseason in the last 3 years. Plants are a gimmick, not a bad one in my opinion, but honestly not that cool. The assassins are basically the same as before, katarina, rengar, kha, zed and leblanc are decent but besides having different mechanics seem about the same as before. new keystones dope. The new jungle in my opinion is the most annoying jungle on earth, raptors rape you if you have no AOE. The krugs are annoying to take down but the little krugs are cute. All in all the jungle feels significantly dumbed down, with smite having the same effect on all the jungle creeps. The jungle rewards champions who have both Aoe and single target abilities (Cough LeeSin cough). The new support items are quite good.

Opinions?

I agree this preseason is kind of dull kind of waiting on more update with impact.

  • Would love for new spells and update to old ones. Example make it so summoner 21 can be cause on an ally would ne interesting.

  • More items with unique active. Would really love a critical + lifesteal item.

  • A Runes update.

They should give Barrier some other effect similar to Heal's speed burst or it will never be meta again.

Casting on allies would be nice, as would perhaps "40% damage reduction for 2 seconds". Probably OP at 40%.. but something along the "barrier" line.

Still say that Barrier and Cleanse should be combined into a single spell.

Situations where you need to make CC go away and where you need to block focus overlap pretty hard.

With the way Riot is handing out free shields these days, why the fuck not.

Can't be anymore broken than CotC. You want to CC someone? Free shield! You want to break CC? Free shield!

I would rather see a Summoner Spell rework pass in place of the next class update. Put everything (sans Smite) on a cooldown similar to Flash and with a similar level of game changing power. I wanna see two Summoner Spells that aren't Flash become a real option.

Ghost+TP.

Works on most top lane auto attackers.

Ofc, flash ghost is there too.

Having one alternate option exist really isn't much better. I mean, look. summoner 21 summoner 13 summoner 1 summoner 3 summoner 4 summoner 6 summoner 7 summoner 14 summoner 12

That's nine spells. On most champions the optimal choice is Flash and one other spells depending on the champ/position. Does that not strike anyone else as absolutely dreadful? The original goal of Summoners, as with the Keystone Masteries, was to give players flexible choices that allow them to custom-tailor how they play their champ. But certain options are just so much better in nearly every situation that there is only the illusion of choice.

There are too many trap options.

I can see this working out in one of two ways. Either everything else gets buffed to the strength of Flash with comparable cooldowns, or Flash gets split into Dash and Passwall and a few of the weaker spells get buffed. Of the two, the latter would be less work and the former would probably be quite a bit more exciting.
