Possible fix for shen taunt width

TL,DL: make shen taunt width like the old, with same portion of the current width that taunts and the rest stuns for .5 sec. Thereby making not as energy compromising if you are slightly off. stunning a target still refunds energy

Make it so it has th same width as the old one ( ...dont panic keep reading) except only the width of the current taunt taunts and anything else will stuns for .5 seconds. this would make it on par wih riven amplified w after her ult. (which mind you with her ult being nearly always up would be fair seeing as stun duration shorter) the main reason for this is I've missed some taunt by hair line. technically it was right over target but the hit box lately has been qwerky. I'm not the only case I've seen a lot of reddit posts illustrating this. now it sucks to miss a skill shot especially an ult when it clearly should have hit. the thing with shen is that his taunt destroys his fighting potential there after. if I proceed to use either q or w I might not have enough energy to use taunt again. in all the chaos its a lot hard to reset your passive. that next taunt can be such a game changer too if only to sacrificially save a team mate to run away... not yo mention the prevalence of blinks dash flair that interrupt etc etc that makes it pretty harsh punishment for mission a Leblanc or vayne tumble dash by fraction. there's even a travel time on it. whereas riven its instant over the whole aoe. what if shen taunt was instantly registered to where he ended. it'd be like a flash taunt almost.

I just find that half the time I'm dealing with an champion with only two spells and an ult. hardly worth getting CDR since if e is back up you won't have energy anyways.

anyways this would fix the problem since if a target is stunned by taunt it still registers as taunted thereby refunding the energy. perhaps a stun target could be refunded a bit less. at least you'll have enough energy to work with. semi reward for half decent play.

a mere .5 second stun seems find it could even be a slow just so long as you can make it so he can regain energy a bit better.

I like that width change. The extra stun could be very small and a good explanation for the stun is like when, something moves by you really fast and you kind of have a stunned reaction like, "WTF was that?". It was a flippin' ninja, that's what that was.

I was thinking the rest could be like a thresh flair displacing people a bit. A sort of whiplash effect of having a ninja dash by them. instead of stun could be a flair in the direction of the dash but move only slightly. that would be cool visually speaking a bit like hecarim ult. Ultimately though it will be very minor cc and mainly a way to reward a still pretty well aimed taunt with energy refund.

id like to hear so feedback... does no one play shen anymore :(

I still play, but currently away from league for a bit as I new a new laptop.

Honestly, I still don't find it hard to hit people with my taunt, I find it hard to hit more than 2 people with it (I only get 1 person in most cases). But if the taunt dealt more damage I'd be fine with the current width. Maybe scaling with movement speed would be good :)

What riot needs to take into account that shen has only ki strike and VB for farming (which is poor) and if he can't intimidate his enemy with a little safe poke, then he will most certainly lose lane to their waveclear abilities.

with the addition of kallista it is imperrative that this be implemnted. you cant expect a shen to be that accurate against a finicky champion like kallista.

I think riot is ignoring Shen for right now. This kind of pisses me off since he has serious potential with the current jungle.

ya im not sure how i feel about it. either theyre totally oblivious or they have somethibg in the works and they're keeping it on the down low. which kind of scares me. im worried theyllmdo an overhaul. when i think a lot of tweaks could be made to make his current kit work. im not afraid of change. i guess if it aint broke dont change it either.

but this thread could really use more visibility. needss more upvotes. share it etc.

what do you think of the idea anyways. you think this wpuld be a goos solution to help solve his energy problems? whats your take on his current taunt width. am i the only one who gets side stepped.

After reading your post a second time I see you mentioned there were times where Shen would dash so close to enemies and nothing would happen. I have also experienced this. I have literally dashed right through enemies and there was no effect, others have also witnessed this. Having a small stun would be nice, his dash could def use some work.

Shen has very little dmg (almost no killing power especially early game) and his sustain is not enough to notice against champs that dish out serious dmg. Buffing his E would be very nice, it could help with his ganking potential in the jungle.

wow your last two posts hit the nail on the head. Exactly what ive been trying to get across. ive taunghted people right on point to no avail.

"WTF was that?". It was a flippin' ninja, that's what that was.

haha you get me man. and it would go well with his taunt(lol see what i did there), his saying about how " if light travels so fast how come its never caught a ninja."

its not like its op. what asking here is minimal cc, really just an excuse to return energy for a still well aimed taunt. if your running low on energy risking to taunt a finiky player can be too costly. id rather just use my taunt to get away then get kitted because i missed by a hairline and have no energy left over for anything else. say i stun the target and have rylais. then i could still chase because ill have enough energy for q. in that instance.

You could even make the edge of the taunt do 50% damage.hardly game breaking.
