Why is Corki's Diamond+ Winrate ~46.5%

Corki Middle Counter Picks, Builds & Stats | Patch 7.21 | Diamond+

It was the same case when Ardent Censer was stronger too. That should have favored him because he'd have more squishy supports to kill when he roams with Package. The bonuses it provides also synergize with him but somehow, he was stuck at the same winrate then too. I really enjoy playing him but I'm not sure why his performance is so abysmal in higher ELO? Is it the item dependence? The lack of CC? The late game? The skill required to optimize Sheen procs. while attack- moving (but this is Diamond+!)?

His winrate isn't great at lower ELO either (~48.5%) but it's never as bad as in Diamond+.

part of it might be that Corki has awkward itemization

for example, if they stack MR and you get VS, you're extremely squishy and sacrificing mobility - it's basically unplayable vs Syndra, Viktor, Brand etc. without any MR or at least a BT for LS ^^^VS also has a terrible build path for Corki and provides no AD (the current Corki build is crit. focused so getting AP with no AD doesn't help much)

if they have a broken healing champion like Vladimir, again you have awkward itemization - Executioner's calling is necessary but takes up a slot and is absolutely worthless as an upgrade to Mortal because Corki's damage is 90% magic

Corki is situationally godlike, but has a lot of poor match ups. If you pick him blind, you're asking for trouble.

Galio prevents him from roaming and can't be killled post item 3194 SyndraOrianna Leblanc Fizz have scary burst, even through item 3155 Malzahar Lissandra have lock down, so a gank is always a kill post 6. Xerath Ziggs Velkoz Zilean shove him in and stay out of auto range. Veigar fucks Valkyrie right up (not seen often, but it's funny). Cassiopeia Ryze rush item 3001 and outscale him Lucian is better in early laning and can pick up a item 3155

It's cuz he's balanced for organized team play. Solo sucks at that. You'll notice many of the champs that are priority pick and ban in pro play have some of the worst win rates in solo q.

They generally won't be buffed cuz those champs are already super good when played as part of an organized team strategy.

He's a very feast or femine champion. His itemization is expansive and he has no real penetration item that fits him well. If he is against an even or ahead tank who stacks MR then he can't do much. But the design of attackspeed scaling magic damage crit is just so fundamentally ridiculous that it's either broken ir useless.

He suffers from his own design. Whenever he's strong he becomes too strong, oppressive and starts crowding out others.

He's got long range poke, waveclear, single target nuke damage (sheen and crits), a escape/gap closer, powerful autos allowing him to bully mid early, effectively use life steal and allow him to pump out undodgeable magic damage later in the game. And to top all of that off he has roam potential with his passive.

Obviously he has weaknesses like any champion and his build is pretty expensive but it seems to me like when he's strong he just does too much.

I really don't like fighting Corki, he's extremely frustrating to play against tbh.

The introduction of item 3194 probably doesn't help since it's such a hard counter to him.

Because Corki's build path is expensive and he's dependent on roams from package which is very telegraphed. He falls behind if he has to build defensively like rushing Hex for a mage.
