If You Are Planning on Buffing Yi Any Time Soon, Consider These Ideas ( From a Yi Main )

Found my love for Yi and now I'd call myself somewhat of a Yi main. I personally never had a problem with him and I wouldn't have thought of him having a pretty low win rate of 48% ( http://champion.gg/champion/MasterYi ).

While I personally am okay with where his current state atm and I don't think he necessarily needs a buff to be good, lots of people have been calling for Yi buffs. So, if you are actually going to buff him, here are some things that kind of bug me about him anyway.

Bugs and Dumb Interactions: Even after some bugfixing I sometimes really feel like I could've dodged some things with Alpha Strike that have been thrown at me. I also think that during Alpha, DOTs should not affect you. I often times awkwardly die mid-alpha because of a poison or ignite tick, when I felt like I should have gotten out of it and gotten one or two autos off before dying. On top of that there sometimes is a bug that affects the cooldown of your alpha strike and which makes it so autos can't reduce it anymore, which is a crucial part of Yi's kit. I recall it not working on a Kindred while she was in her ult. It usually goes away after some time but it's still annoying. And even more annyoing is the interaction between alpha strike and epic monsters. When you alpha baron you will spawn at the center of him, which means that he will knock you up for 2 seconds or so every time you alpha it, so you basically just don't use it on him. On drake it's even more weird. You know how when you trigger drake aggro it knocks you back for 1 sec to the edge of the pit? Since you disappear from the map while alpha striking you reset the aggro of it when none of your allies is around, which means that it will do the knockback every time you alpha. Considering how important soloing drake has gotten on Yi with the introduction of elemental dragons and the %HP damage on Bloodrazor, this is something that just shouldn't exist. Lastly there's fears during Yi's ult. Since you can't be slowed during Highlander and fears kind of are slows and definitely seem to be progammed to be slows, you won't slowly walk away from the enemy like you should, no, you will run at full speed away from the enemy team ( or into the enemy team with some creativity on Fid's side ) at full speed for 2.5 seconds, which is just dumb.

Weird Highlander Duration: For an ultimate like his, having a duration of only 7 seconds doesn't feel like it's enough to me. On the other hand, kills grant you a little too much extra duration by also giving extra 7 seconds, so that I sometimes get to clear one or two camps after ulting and killing people mid with the ult still running, which is kind of absurd. Some might argue that for someone with his damage potential more than 7 seconds is still too much and you will easily kill people within the duration, but keep in mind that he is a skirmisher and not an assassin ( http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/dev-blog-classes-subclasses ), which means that he will also have to kill tanky targets and not only squishies, for which the duration easily is enough when you have a way to get through them without any opposition of enemy supports or tanks. Right now, when fighting tanks or bruisers or squishies that have their protection, especially when they run away or kite back, your ult will run out halfway through and you won't be able to do anything because you are too slow to stick to and auto people, especially when your ghost is down. I'd propose that maybe there should be a mechanic that you have a 4 second base duration, a 4 second extension for every kill and a 0.5 second extension for every auto ( or some similar values, test around a bit ) on his ultimate duration. This way, you'll use the 4 seconds at the beginning or after any of the kills to get into autohit and/or alpha range and then keep the ult running while you fight your enemy by constantly autoing. This way you won't have absurd amounts of time left on highlander if you sweep through the enemy backline but still be able to effectively deal with the enemy frontline and not just run out of fuel halfway through the fight.

Making Alpha Trigger On-Hits?: Now this would probably be a bit more massive buff and much more experimental, and should only be implemented if you're sure that this won't go overboard. I feel like way at the beginning of his rework Yi was intended to build much more AD than he does right now with his current on-hit build. The crit build alternative works has emerged largely because of the fact that the ratio on his Q is not only 100% but also can crit for some extra damage. That means that on on-hit builds your Q will really not deal that much damage. In teamfight this really does not matter as much because you focus more on chasing one target down after the other rather than dealing aoe damage to the enemy team, but while clearing jungle camps or minion waves in the mid-to early late game it's just really annoying. Your splitpushing abilities are already much more impaired than they used to be because you don't have as much AD at your disposal and on-hits don't trigger on towers, but having Alpha not deal enough damage to clear 4 minions at 30 minutes in just makes it much slower, because you will have to auto each of them one by one after alphaing the wave.

That's about it. Would love to see some thoughts on this.

No need to buff the Yi. He's in a good place right now, the dumpster is about where he belongs.

Hey, don't be mean. Judging from your name, you should probably know what the dumpster feels like right now. JK. Yi is probably fine atm.

Dots in general effect all champions same with tethers with invincibility or more accurately untargetability. Overall I feel like Yi is ok at the moment depending on your build path; For example buffing crit Yi would make him better hypercarry late game by increasing scaling armor/scaling health et ceteria. Which would probably be better buffs overall to make his late game better.

Yi is... an odd case.

I don't think buffing yi will ever "fix yi" to make his viable in higher elos. The problem with yi is that he's an all-in champion that just runs into fights and kills everything, but if there is 1 intelligent person on the enemy team with CC they can just wait for alpha strike and stun him, and then rip yi. Its the reason why tank yi was so strong, it wasn't blown up when he did go for dumb 1v5s.

Then you'll hear the voice of every bronze player complaining about yi being op when nobody knows how to punish him in the weak state he's in right now.

I find his winrate hilarious in challenger tier, but yea statisically I would like to see balanced to be playable in a real competitive setting, he's just too feast or famine as you climb.
