@RiotRepertoir - Still no comment on Sona?

I posted asking if Sona was going to be looked into in the Meddler thread, but it was ignored, it's like the only post on the front page of that thread with no Riot response...well great... You said you would try to get them to comment on the issue, a general good idea was to post in that thread...but still no response Come on, throw us a bone here, we are losing hope

"Lack of caster supports is something we'll look at post preseason release if it's still an issue. None of the changes in the preseason are targeted specifically at caster supports, but with that much change going on it's possible we'll see some shifts in favored champions, playstyles etc in that regard."

Also Sona is stronger than people give her credit for. The problem comes from her being boring to play, not very interactive (just walk towards enemy every time Q is off CD, use, then walk away) revolving around auras, which have invisible power that's pretty strong at times, but very unnoticeable and unappreciated. Ardent Censor doesn't help much either, being a VERY good item on her, but only giving further invisible power that's hard to appreciate/notice.

Even before this they said they were looking at her.

I say just be patient with people who really want something done with her.

  1. Boring isn't a factor for high level of play where people play to win; if she was boring but very strong, she'd still see play.
  2. Boring is relative; I find her very fun to play, and I always have. Many people enjoy champions like Leona, I don't.
  3. OLD Sona had invisible passive power - new Sons doesn't. I'm not sure what's invisible about the power that she gives anymore. Her Q is an AA buff that isn't more "invisible power" than Nami's E, her W is a shield that isn't any more "invisible power" than Lux's W, and her E is a speed buff that isn't any more "invisible power" than Talisman's active. Maybe her Q buff needs to be flashier so it's more obvious, and maybe Diminuendo needs to have some visual impact (outside of her Arcade skin which shows it nicely), but that's just visuals.

your last line basically sums it up. I've stopped playing sona recently cause im always vs a thresh or some type of tanky lock down monster and even when im not against 1, i still get murdered.

ive tried ap, tank, and utility and they all have gaping weaknesses.

She actually fares better against Thresh than most other hard engage supports because Thresh is actually surprisingly squishy early game and she can bully him easily.

Its not even that though, mid game I try to do something and he has 5 [hyperbole] different ways to either escape/peel his adc or to catch up

It's unfortunate, but right now she's heavily countered against the tank meta. From what I understand, Sona does indeed pack a large punch (she has insane poke damage early, and building her AP rewards you with a lot of damage late game). Riot buffering her further could make more Sona players happy, but she'd more than likely be re-nerfed again when the meta decides to change.

I'm not disregarding your misfortune, because it really does suck as a support player (I used to personally main Sona too, but Braum is here!) to have your champion picked off of the meta. I'd personally recommend maybe playing her in a different role for the time being, like mid/top lane. Sure, her wave-clear may be one of the worse in the game, but she could out-poke most of her lane opponents out of farming early.

If you still wish to support with her, maybe try changing up your build-path too. There's no shame in building early damage/magic pen on a support, so long as you're actually supporting your team. I hope that you have better luck with your main. :)
