I feel like tanks aren't given enough credit

I've yet to have that feeling as Nautilus or Sejuani or Sion where an ADC with Last Whisper makes me feel totally useless omg rito pl0x

I get that Whisper and to a lesser degree Void Staff are a bit overbearing for the cost they have but unless it's the rare game where an enemy carry gets fed before I'm able to afford my items, I find myself being marginally more useful than them for a lot of the game (especially if I'M doing well.) The amount they bring to a teamfight is not to be messed with either; Sejuani has absurd damage for someone who only needs an Abyssal's for it, Nautilus becomes nigh inescapable late game with a good chunk of CDR provided he's got enough mana, and Sion is Sion and can fuck your entire team up. I could even argue that not picking a tank is a detriment to most team comps; as Sejuani I feel I contribute much more than a selfish pick like Vi can.

Really, the biggest issue is that they've almost entirely been shoved into either jungle or support, and a lot of the top lane tanks aren't in the best spot they could be in (or deserve to be in). With some exceptions like Sion and Chogath who can still go into the jungle regardless(and the latter's a deceptively powerful mid lane), I think more should be done to promote them being used in lane but aside from that... Not much else except for some minor kit changes to bump the other tanks up to the current strength that Sejuani and Sion possess right now.

Is it just me? As a Sejuani main, I can't help but feel a little miffed when someone says tanks are useless. I think it's time that tanks got the praise they deserve.

Tanks are valuable and do receive respect from players who know what's what.

Fighters are also very valuable. Building 1 ish damage items (ish because of items like iceborn gauntlet or abyssal scepter being both defensive and offensive) And tanky otherwise with cc can be just as valuable as a tank.

The average player gives all the glory to the kills. You'll get credit via wins for playing tanks well though ;)

it's one of the best feelings when your team acknowledges that you did well. I remember a game where I got 4 honors from my team and I think one Honorable Opponent and the ADC that snowballed really hard said "honor naut for carry" in the post-game lobby

felt good man

tanks are useless and need to be buffed. This season, tanks have been so useless that I've been winning with J4 as a DPS champ more often than as a tank.

Hydra/Cleaver/Maw/LW/Greaves/Randuins man, better than any tank build.

which tanks are you playing as/against? Jarvan 4 is a bruiser, so of course he scales well with offensive stats.

But I can assure you that seeing Sejuani buffed isn't what you want

i'd argue that Nautilus Shen Zac (well, no argument, he needs straight-up buffs) need love, as well as the other tanks who rely on moving fast in place of having gapclosers, but that's more a kit problem than item issues.

The problem is that they're not viable in competitive play. Poppy is amazing in solo queue, and there's multiple Poppy, Mordekaiser and Master Yi mains in diamond 1. Yet they're nowhere in competitive play, why? Because the full potential of a champion is only brought out in competitive 5v5 teams with perfect communication, such that you aren't simply exploiting mistakes.

Sejuani is seriously good right now. Don't let anyone tell you different.

She's not really representative of the class though. Her recent mini-rework really helped. Other tanks need a similar treatment.

I think it'd be pretty easy to alter their kits and give them better use as tanks. Sejuani is especially strong because she has amazing damage output for being hard to kill (not to mention her endless CC) and I think other tanks should be pushed towards having strong damage over a long period of time.

Nautilus I think his DoT should scale off his maximum health, much like the shield. It can be stopped by popping his shield, but it forces you to make him soak damage otherwise he'll start putting serious hurt on you once he gets health.

I don't know how we could make Zac a strong pick since I don't play him much anymore, but I'd like to do something about how easy his blobs are to squish out from his enemies. At the very least, he could be nudged back into a magic pen bruiser like I feel he should be. This is how I generally build Sejuani, though, so maybe I've got a bit of bias. Right now he feels like too much of a CC bot. I'm sure better base stats would go a long way, too.

Tanks are a lot better than fighters right now with ones like mao and sion being legitimately capable of competing with top lane mages.

One thing I will say is that it varies a lot with elo. I don't know what you are but as you play better players they get better at kiting and abusing range advantage. As opposed to low elo where for instance fighters are actually good because adcs sit there facetanking them.

This is more of a joking aside than anything serious, but Sion's actually a pretty scary anti-melee Mid Laner as a very certain Sion mid player has shown me.

I got wrecked hard. Was not expecting the combined poke and tankiness, and them having 4 tanks on their team to protect their Vayne made team fights so, soooooooo hard.

Unfortunately, anyone who doesn't have the ability to kill doesn't really get recognition, unless they get kills as well. Not 1 or 2, but like, at least 40% of the team's total kills to be relevant.

In my defense, I build mostly full tank, always give my laners first blood if possible (they loooove it especially when it's obvious, then you become boos), try to give away at least 50% of the kills to get the carries fed, and initiate teamfights and take all the damage.

Okay, I admit it, I duel with the enemy jungler sometimes. But if there's one champion I'm entitled to kill, it's Fiddlesticks and LeeSin
