why is riot so afraid of reverting things

example A: ADC item changes

these changes were just, a complete failure theres no way around it. i think stormrazor should stay as its a decent item imo, but the main deal is infinity edge needing to be able to be rushed again, its just too essential on too many bot laners to remove and it shows now where we have about 2 meta adcs and the rest are complete shit. sure a crit adc meta is trash but at least you can still play a lot of adcs in that type of meta because most adcs are crit rushers and that wasnt really a problem till last season but that wasnt adcs fault it was how the support meta was( cough ardent) and almost every adc in the game did not need to suffer because of it. if they do end up reverting the changes (given their track record probably in about a year or two) they definitely should up crit item prices a bit and maybe take off a bit of the crit buffer on infinity edge like lowering it to 230% crit dmg instead of 250%

example B: Class updates

they even admitted that they've been complete trainwrecks hence why they arent doing them anymore, they've reverted a lot of these but there are quite a few glaring updates they still refuse to revert like turning malz into a pushing ult bot and keeping skarner a gimmick based garbage champ though i will admit they are getting around to some fixing like the fizz and rengar reverts that took way to long to finally get pushed out

example C: Scuttle

now this, this change caused problems from the very start with funneling becoming a thing and now if your ahead in the jungle you cant hold a lane or shove up for a laner without losing a lot of gold because of its fix. around that time dueling and ganking junglers crowded out everything else and still do because scuttles are too important and your actual jungle doesnt give enough exp for how long the buff timers are, if you cant gank after your clear you pretty much get to do absolutely nothing for a solid minute or two which doesnt sound like much until you think of how much time that is in terms of a match and they plan on lowering jg exp which is gonna make the problem worse especially with minions getting to lanes way faster in the same patch they wont be able to keep up with laners

TL:DR riot doesnt like to admit they're wrong and try to balance around bad changes way too long before they just revert them

A lot of people don't mind the scuttle changes anymore. Especially now that the krugg clear has been discovered.

Dr Dog3 votes

the scuttle change is still more than worth reverting if it means we wont need caster minions giving you 4 gold when your ahead to combat funneling, a revert on it would generally do more good than it would hurt

Pillar Of SaIt1 votes

I still say funneling was more of a support problem than a jungle problem tho

Dr Dog2 votes

even if thats the case jungle is what took the hit for it, not support

Cait Main3 votes

They are removing monster hunter to reenable funneling for preseason. They expect laning to be more important so that funneling won't be as efficient.

Aseraan1 votes

Oh i do fuking mind you know why cuz its still worth too much to ignore it and god bless im maining champs i can dominate the scutle whit WICh is the actual point of why it should not have soo much worth on it.

I can simply ignore my own buffs and go for scutle instead cuz:

1 i will take it whithout any enemy contest free

2 can fight over it but boi im already taking it hard cuz i have a champ that can take it ez and fight for it ez ending it whit me being ahed already but if the enemy junglers fights for it most of the time i kill him hence im even more fking ahead

The whole concept of it is retarded you will contest it and win jungle and probably the game over only scutle.

Because most changes are almost universally positive, even if they arent as well recieved.

ADC changes were fine, ADCs just need more itemization and non crit oriented paths (AS needs to be put with something other than crit).

Most class updates were positive. Even mordes update was positive. Morde still needs another rework, but hes got less design issues than he used to have.

Scuttle changes were just flat out better for jungle as a whole. Flat out. Fewer immediate ganks without giving up something massive. It was needed.

you can give adcs as many items as you want that doesnt change the fact most adcs kits are based around autos/crits, though trying to make stormrazor the universal rush item was a big step in the wrong direction

Pika Fox1 votes

Then the crit sections can be adjusted. Ashe just got her passive adjusted as a result.

LordGeovanni1 votes

adcs with kits based around crit Caitlyn (it wasnt always so they added that in season 6) Ashe (added in season 5) Graves (not even based around crits just overcomensated for it and most people dont play for crits on graves) Jhin (his crit interactions are innately broken. the damage one at least the movement speed one is just super overloaded and overpowered and has the potential be trimmed down to be made healthy) MissFortune (crit interaction is on ult and not attack speed based so separating the to doesnt effect that) Quinn (another overloaded crit interaction with passive but typically not played for crit) Xayah (her e shouldnt have crit scaling but anything to overload them adcs)

Because they usually fix problems with the updates.

They often introduce new problems, too, but going back to older patches will reintroduce old problems. The point is to move forward. A lot of players would rather have the devil they know... but that leads to a stagnant game. Stagnation is the antithesis of Riot's goals for League. So yeah, they're going to keep moving forward, and they'll only really revert when the updates outright failed to solve a stated problem. But that's usually not the case for their changes. They usually do a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of routine.

adc items did fail.... to remove power from adcs

My biased adc part of the brain wants a crit item revert, and also the base stats and FleetF revert.

But I know that adcs deserved the nerfs, in the first place the nerfs were too hard and they had to buff them back a bit, but now that the dust has settled I know that botlane is more balanced.

But, bring my ER back you ®~π®¥÷¥

Dr Dog2 votes

throwing every single crit based adc in the gutter isnt balancing, have you actually played adc recently? there are a grand total of two adcs that are meta because most adcs are crit heavy and now lacking a good starting item to support that. if there arent some serious changes or a revert thats how its gonna stay. personally i think a lot would be much better if they changed stormrazor to have more crits built into it such as a 210% crit every 4 autos so crit adcs arent missing out on so much dmg early while keeping it balanced later in the game because of the fact they'll usually have a good amount of crit anyway

You can literally play any adc right now. Lucian being beyond busted is riot buffing him three patches in a row to sell high noon skin. Kai'sa same story. Other than that sivir is super good right now. Jhin is still good. Tristana too. Ashe is more than playable right now. As is varus. "two adcs hurr durr".

Varus sitting at 47% winrate and have no positive matchups so fucking good.

Why are players afraid of adapting to the game?

Fear the Kayn2 votes

I think ADCs are pretty balanced as it is. Listen, the whole issue with IE was that they got their burst way too early. As an ADC the worst 'burst' shouldn't be part of your kit whatsoever. You're ranged, you're relatively safe, and you have a dedicated champion to protect you. You should NEVER be able to 1v1 an assassin (assuming equally fed).

'burst' shouldn't be part of your kit whatsoever

riot: We agree completely! That being said, have this item 3095

Well they admitted ttk was too fast (correct?), took them long enough though. Now we wait to see how Long will take to fix.

Crit ADC meta is best ADC meta though It's the most inclusive of all the possible ADC item metas vs stuff like bork or lethality metas

Moody P2 votes

no ADC meta is best

ZackTheWaffleMan1 votes

5 adc meta

GayFluffyUnicorn5 votes

Yeah for ADCs. Noone else enjoyed the shitshow we had to endure since the beginning of s6. s6,7,8 were pure ADC meta. Thank god that shit is over.

Cait Main1 votes

S6 was half an adc meta when Twitch and Kogmaw were the 2 meta but when it became the Lucian Ezreal meta bot, solo laners were more important, mainly mid.

S7 literally was known as the ADC in 2k17 meta because every adc was an ult bot. Remember when Ashe, Varus, and Jhin were the only ones picked with the very occasional Sivir. Second half was the ardent meta that became explosive right before worlds and that was literally just an adc right clicking while the support just spammed spells on them. It was a bot lane meta as a whole because an adc without ardent was useless but op with it.

S8 hasn't been an adc meta for a few months. It was at the start but when mid season hit bot lane stopped mattering.

Salron1 votes

I'm talking about in terms of what is viable bot Not as in ADCs being dominant overall Reading is hard i guess

Lethality meta means you'll have around 4-5 ADCs that can abuse the best items Bork meta is about 5 ADCs that can use it well Crit meta is about 13 ADCs being able to use it well

LTK KoRo1 votes

During ardent meta the crit meta reigned supreme too. And yknow what? All crit carries aren't equal in power, if crit is the best strategy then stronger crit carries will push out the weaker crit carries out of botlane.

Im 100% sure that there never was time when more than 5 ADCs reigned supreme in botlane. There's always some kind of crutch ADC which removes diversity, like current Lucian/Kaisa, Ardent Tristana, or Cait back in the days.

Ego, they spent too much time on in it, their ego does not accept that its a failure.

Linna Excel1 votes

In part because they don't have the code anymore. Once a change goes live, the old code goes down the memory hole. So when a champion or class update fails, they've got nothing to revert to.

The other part is riot really hates doing big changes outside of preseason and midseason. So if they bloop it up, it'll be at least 6 months before they can do anything about it.

hhaavviikk1 votes

because reverting something means admitting you were wrong and made a mistake, just look at malzahar ''riot his passive is really oppresive '' nerfs malzahar W no we mean his passive nerfs malzahar Q riot his passive Nerfs his E RIOT THE PASSIVE nerfs passive and keeps all previous nerfs

it's how they function sometimes...or allot of times whichever you prefer, they buff a part of a champions kit and instead of undoing the buff they will nerf litterally everything EXCEPT the problem that they caused

Aseraan1 votes

Makes sense tho the whole lol community is all about blaming others for ur mistakes........hence blaming jungler meme.

hewhodoesnotcare1 votes

Because riot a little bitch and can't admit that they r wrong

hewhodoesnotcare1 votes

Give us back our jungling xp riot shits. Stop nerfing us to fucking ground because we r too much of an impact then go around and say junglers r in the jungle too much and plan another xp nerf fuck u riot

DeusVult1 votes

Scuttle change isnt as bad as the majority of the boards would lead you to beleive

ADC changes were entirely necessary, and making a distinction between late game crit carries and early game AD carries needed to happen. The game now just needs to get to a point were crit carries have the option to get to 2 items before the game is entirely decided.

Class updates: They arent doing them anymore, but they shouldnt revert champs back to toxic states simply because the current versions are also OP or toxic

nGio1 votes

They aren't afraid, they just don't give a shit. They only care about LC$ and viewership.

Why are champions and items left op as shit or worthless for long amounts of time? Because LC$ is coming.

Why are champions like Sej and Zac randomly reworked from AP bruisers into jungle supports? Because LC$ playz.

Why can't I play URF/Hexakill/OFA/Dominion with some buddies right now? They exist, they're fun, and there are plenty of people who would rather be playing them, but they're vaulted up. Why? Because the hamsters are told LC$ Simulator is better, and to play like the pros do, in preparation for LC$.
