Believe it or not, Lux can be a strong support, even moreso now with the shield buffs. It just needs to be played properly. The only reason she has such a bad name as support is because most people take CS, don't build SS, ignore their ADC to try and get themselves fed etc

Half her kit is not fit for supporting, she is item reliant and if you want an ap support then brand or zyra do more damage with less items.

Idk where you get "half" of her kit from. Her Q is a 2 second hard CC, her W is a (now) massive shield, and her E is a slow field that slows for 45%. The only thing that doesn't bring utility is her ult, and even then it doesn't matter because death is the best form of CC. And literally everyone in the game is item reliant. As for your supposed "more damage with less items" obviously you haven't seen a Lux build magic pen.

Well over 5 seasons worth of being a meme pays off to actually be the truth you know. Lux support holds a 45% in winrates. If this is your part of saying "lux supports are not being played seriously" it is sure a HUGE sample.

All mage supports are doing bad this meta since Janna, taric holds an iron fist that negates aoe damage. Lux's damage is not enough for the current patch, you need brand or velkoz class of damage even to get a measly 48%.

Everyone has counters, the matchup is what matters. The system lumps everything together. Just because something might be god awful vs one thing doesn't mean they don't crush something else. And Lux isn't required to play as a mage. I build actual support items on her quite often (when Im confident in my ADC), and still stomp my lane. Every match is different. I don't concern myself with winrates because in reality every game is 50-50. You either win or you lose.

Lux support is a meme still because look if you want to actually support, morganna brings more than lux to the table. Lux shield is basically irrelevant utility wise as level 1 ability, while black shield is game changing even rank 1. Damage wise brand, zyra, velkoz brings more than lux aswell. You think it's coincidence that zyra or brand usually are at the top of damage dealt charts? Not saying you can't play Lux support, it's just underwhelming compared to other options.
