Bleh I regret writing all this lol. (My breakdown of League striving to stay a medium quality moba)

I know this can be very contreversial, but I'm hoping this sums up accurately. Will be starting our journey in the far reach of July 27, 2010 With the Release of vladimir. Vladimir was always considered by Riot as their failed design because it allowed A tank champ with huge sustain well being able to negate ganks and have crazy wave clear without using mana, but hey will get back to that later.

So jump in a few years to a new mechanic if you will. December 19th, 2012 for Vi and March 29th, 2013 For Zac These two "Jungle champions" would find themselves as the top crop of League. Primarily because of the delayed strike mechanic unlike an amumu who depended on landing his toss and the fear of being qss'd these two allowed themselves to reposition themselves regardless. The mechanic wasn't implemented at the levels we have now, but for the day I think it's a good explaination

So as the game progressed and ping started to change east coast no longer having 100 ping Player were able to play more properly We'd see more Cass's and Xerath's and lee sins winning. With it we'd see the new cough* reworked champion Vayne I mean Kalista. Now you probably wouldn't say Azir and Kalista are the poster childs of Riot today, you probably wouldn't of said it back then either, but at the time they were the iconic duo of being labeled "scripters" Despite champs as xerath and cass also being labeled as such. One arguable reason being that many simply couldn't play them they sucked just gave up. https://youtu.be/1_xUNSyAHGs?t=14487 quote " I got sick of her also whenever I got stuck ad carry. I just could not play her" " I never wanted to invest the time needed to play her properly." P.s Scripters still exist. Like jhin's that you wouldn't notice you'd just think wow lucky 4 shots.

Kalista was considered the poster child not of league, but of their esports scene. Watching Kalista hop was a sign for Players that League was going to change. It was going to change itself in it's category of Mobas. With more moba's spawning from the ground clones of league etc. This showed esports an example of just how good our players are with all the fancy dodging of Kalista's auto's. And with that came the tragic tale of why Kalista and Azir have been nerfed to the ground for alot of the League players that still play today. League decided not to change. They wanted simplicity and prioritized it, but they also wanted players to feel like they were actually good at the game even if they weren't.

As we fast forward to the land of today with more moba's flooding the market League continues to force it's gameplay to try to stay that medium. Lowering the quality to value it to all the lesser valued moba's. With it we seen a lot of choices that for most have made many players leave the scene well the ones that stay inherit the complaining scene those quit players champs may never find peace as they've become such a minority.

In the beginning a brought up Vlad being poorly designed as described by Riot as well as the delayed mechanic. In today's League we have another mechanic I'd consider the Roleplay Mechanic. This is primarily a priority value that supresses any other value in game. Instead of a hit being accepted this is an I attempt to hit you where the opposing player can decide if yes or not. Examples Xayah Ult, Vlad W Akali's W. There are of course delayed versions Taric Ult. Fizz E. But they offer safety that otherwise wouldn't exist. Simply Diving someone with these abilities with a certain champion may be impossible well also stating you can't kill this player if you would want to because they have a get out of jail free Ekko ult.

Bringing up the Delayed mechanic though of a skill being charged. As a player we play with ms, but beyond that we our minds take ms to see what is happening on screen and then hitting the button. By having this delay though we're playing a circus game. One that heavily favors the user than the one trying to dodge. To put it in to perspective I'll use both Taric's stun with Pyke's hook. Taric's is something you see the hit box being a little larger that what's visible. If you play without a dash in game you have the disadvantage trying to dodge this spell. With a 340 movement speed the odds are against you as say a jinx with an abysmmal 325 movement speed. She needs to spend an entire 300 gold on boots to match the speed. On top of this though is the flash ms You probably see people dying well flashing and it sucks to have it happen to you. The goal is to flash at possibly the lowest ms possible between You Flashing and the ability for Taric to flash to counter yours. Without repositioning your going to be stunned.

Pyke's hook alternatively is very fast, but it can yank you an impressive 300+ units that can't be qss'd if your hit your yanked. Their isn't a time frame to accurately remove or cancel it lowering counter play, His dash also delayed can be extended and can make some champions kits unfunctional. Nidalee for example may hit pyke with her Javelin who should be rewarded by leaping on him in cougar to kill will find her self stunned if she leaps. and is then can easily be hook tossed under tower or ulted by pyke.

If you look at the top lane You'll notice an over abundance of tanky, sustainable champs all with their own form of escape and engage. And if you look at te Jungle will see an abundance of assassin's who don't struggle with farming minnions, but are prominent at ganking lanes and carrying hard. Things like Rengar, Khazhix, Kayn. To play a champion like Nautilus only hurts your team. If you have the most gold on your team your getting less by farming. It wouldn't be so bad if Jungler's (Assassin's) weren't heavily rewarded then for ganking. It felt like a meme when they showed jungle diversity as improved when they showed kindred flashing from the level 2 khazhix. And said this is okay. https://youtu.be/KV0O1Be8b6Q?t=83 For every 1k of gold you farm your worth more gold. So even if your singed or Sion is dying he's still worth gold.. It's kind of like if you increase minimum wage. It's good money, but it means less competitors for those wanting to set up shop. Less jobs means Less players wll preform well in the jungle unless they conform to the standard. All Enforcing a meta.

There's a lot of good in League, but they've made a lot of bad choices too. They want a good game though and I've seen them try to put out oddities that are really neat. I thought https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIA1w5AY9lA explained it pretty well. There's a lot of streamers that just don't want stuff to change. They want to be the prime spotlight the voice of a community. At the end of the day they wanna be King of the hill to keep making money.their interest isn't the same as yours. League's greatest strength was player ingenuity trying new builds having fun. I'm sure there are a lot that have fun being one shotted by rengar auto's or w.e gets their high, but I can't think of a game more repetitive. Perhaps the reason so many quit after urf is the realization that regardless of skill Some champs are just better in general.

Balance ≠ Skill

I didn't go into detail much of champions being simplified Like lulu no longer being a mid laner. Where what was cool gameplay of her using her Q for harass she's now a press button insta cast where everyone lulu is now of the same level and every nerf/ buff shows. It's definitely important, but they've segregated the lulu players and those lulu mids probably left league for good.

Here's a few changes I would do though

Lifeline Instead of a 4 second window for an assassin to jump in and not consider consequences. We are changing this item to have a small radius of 300. If your character moves/is moved out of the circle during the duration they'll bounce back. A nice buff for adc's like kindred from being knocked out of her ult. Or Champion knock backs/ pulls that would reposition your character out of the distance. Like Pyke, Blitz, Vayne. The distance will allow safety yet outplay potential for all classes.

Quick sash. Finally reforged to its former glory. The changes currently provide benefits to individual champs well other still suffer the same effects and because remain less relevant and because can't provide the same effect as others. It's also improved to better cancel being pulled Because its stupid op Pyke.

Hex drinker Shield nerfed with nullifying orb it provides too much safety. So it along with nullifying will scale lower per level. I'd actually consider making nullifying orb a ad shield.

what do you consider a high quality moba
