There are some key differences, but I agree that it's not difficult to see the parallels. Personally, what concerns me more about all this is that, of all the directions to take Aatrox, a three-strike hit doesn't seem quite right, and much of what he has that was from his old kit, i.e. his self-healing, steroids, self-rez, etc., felt like they've been passed through a game of telephone, staying in some vague form without actually corresponding to what players liked about them. The general direction for Aatrox doesn't feel all that unique, and in fact feels less unique than his old self: despite Aatrox's utterly generic kit on Live, he has really amazing and unique lore, and most of the players who expressed their opinion on him wanted to see his kit change to fit that. Essentially, players wanted a sustained fighter who could also give allies some kind of table-turning combat buff, yet what we got was yet another screamy, angry fighter with a theme of being big and strong and powerful, and a pretty rote combination of mobility, tons of CC, and self-sustain.
