Aery balance thoughts

I simply find it weird when some champions that don't have any way to apply Aery's shielding component, still take Aery and it works well with them as a cheese strat. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that champions can take it purely as an offensive tool (especially since it's in the Sorcery tree and no one said it's support-exclusive), but considering the damage nerfs it received I just feel like it may be too hard or weird to balance.

Thus came my idea: Two Aeries! A blue, defensive Aery and a red, offensive Aery *-*. You can change your Aery type at any stage of the game in the fountain, but you'll never be able to use both at once. Options it opens:

  • Balance the "offensive Aery" in a way that really will be appealing to DPS damage dealers (especially Battle Mages, since Meteor doesn't work well with them and RIP Deathfire Touch).
  • Allow supports to opt into early offense with the red Aery, and later change into the blue one when they need to protect their team.
  • Easier to balance since you can only use one at a time.

Aery is fine in general but I kind a found odd that you can proc it with an auto-attack while the tree should focus on the fact that you actually hit with your spell.

This and myb not proc it on heals shields on allies if you aren't in combat?

What if players could just use Aery to autoattack allies? So, while Aery is up, targeting an ally could use a "basic attack" on them to send Aery their way, allowing anyone use both effects while still benefiting enchanters the most. Alternatively, because Meteor is already a nuke Keystone and is always going to be in competition with the current Aery in reliability and damage values, it might also help to change Aery into a different, utility-centric effect that all champions could use.

Well, it has a much faster recharge than comet, especially for short range champs, and never misses. The damage is hardly better than many of the minor runes.
